To be fair up until he threw that INT and reverted to Original Recipe Weeden he was looking pretty spectacular in the scope of the super limited offense they were running.

His ability to handle pressure is so spectacularly awful it's amazing. Our oline is amazing but it'll happen eventually. Not to mention in pressure situations he habitually makes the worst decision imaginable. Outside of that he's perfectly suitable to get us some wins. Damn! Big props to the Falcons for making this comeback. I for sure had em pegged to be out of it early, but gotta give it to em for fighting back and for their defense to be playing shutdown D in the second half.

I was really down on the team's prospects in the first half for obvious reasons. Every checkdown was 15+ yards for the Cowboys. Small sample size at this point but the strong second halves are much better than the "get out to a lead then cling for dear life" of the conservative Mike Smith era.

I'm good. The Ravens ain't!

The team didn't do much to address the dearth of secondary talent in the offseason, but more than anything these past two years show just how vital Teryl Austin was to their success. Dean Pees feels like he's at a loss and views the defense as lacking in talent and therefore implements systems that hope to not give up the big play; what happens as a result is a ton fo 3rd and short conversions being allowed and, in the case of AJ Green, giving up massive plays ANYWAY. I've never been particularly happy with him as our DC, but I don't think replacing him with anyone else would move this team any further than at best a 1-2 record (should have won the Raiders game with half a brain for DC - the amount of 3rd and 2s given up was absurd).

Offensive line is pretty awful again, and the run game is absolutely dead in the water. Only saving grace is the Ravens are on a not-so-short list of teams struggling to run the ball this year, so it seems like a sort of common issue. Flacco is the only reason these have been one-score losses - he's been making great plays and his receivers have made some dazzling efforts (Gilmore and Steve Smith with the YAC). That being said he clearly isn't comfortable in Trestman's system and is still sorely, sorely lacking in offensive weapons.

With two pretty bad coordinators under Harbaugh and a team-wide lack of leadership after Suggs' injury, it doesn't particularly suprrise me how ugly things look. Three one-score losses make the Ravens leagues better than the next 0-3 team but the record's the same and they won't make the playoffs.

A third of the Ravens cap space this year is being spent on players that aren't touching the field.

Also, all that aside, gotta give props to the Bengals for making some fantastic plays all day ysterday. I'd say "wow Dalton looks good" but let's be real, this happens every season. I'll wait to see how he looks in prime time and later this season in general. Marvin Jones stood out to me.

I can't wait for week 5 for Greg Hardy and Rolando to come back. That ATL game is pretty much as low as we can get with Mincey out on top of our long term injuries. No place to go but up. Week 5 for defensive help, then hopefully Gregory and Dez after the bye. Then the MIA game for Romo. I hope we can stay afloat until he comes back.
