I’m about a three & half hour drive. I’m keeping an eye on the storm, if it trends badly I’ll just end up canceling. Luckily, Disney will allow you to cancel reservations with refund in the event of a hurricane.
So I am not spending $200 to build a custom lightsaber but I watched a video of the Savi’s workshop experience and it felt very similar to Olivander’s Wand Shop in Universal, but you know, with Star Wars flavor. God damn was it hype though. I don’t know if I wouldn’t get bit misty eyed in the end if I was doing it in person.
Friends bought me a ticket to build one as a surprise. Have to admit it was a super cool feeling. I was whatever about it at first, but when building it it's pretty cool the options you can go through. And when you power it up for the first time, it's just straight nerdgasmic.
I have no regrets doing mine and I was definitely misty eyed when I finished. Actually tried to convince my hubby I needed to make one in Florida this week because you know..reasons lol. It was something that I would urge anyone who grew up with the movies like I did to try if feasible. I chose power and control and the cast members interactions were great as they judged me for it haha.

Did Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World. The theming was incredible, though I think the Millennium Falcon ride is a little weak. Everything looked amazing though. Incredibly immersive. I had the blue milk with rum and the ronto wrap and enjoyed them both. Saw Chewbacca, Rey, and Kylo Ren just roaming about which was surprising because characters usually only do that at Disneyland and not in Orlando.
Just leaving Orlando and few quick thoughts while I wait to board the plane.
Galaxy's edge in WDW feels so cramped compared to Disneyland , I was shocked because they have more land by far but the space they worked with was okay. It was interesting to walk through but definitely prefer DL for the actual transition into another "planet".
I realized how much I hate humidity this trip and think going forward will go in spring or at least late fall. Beach club was nice for the location and pool days were great though.
Food and wine at epcot was fun overall but the heat and humidity wiped me out early on days. I actually felt a bit underwhelmed by the food and wine offerings vs California food and wine and the festival of holidays I will enjoy again this year. It was still a wonderful trip just needed more time as always because of how hot and spread out things are here versus California.

My family and my parents are headed to Disney World in early October.
Thankfully my dad is a Military Retiree and is able to get a significant discount on 4 day park passes... BUT he’s limited to 6 tickets only. So I need 2 more.
Is there a good way to get discounted tickets?
Eta: Also, is there a crowd tracker for the Disney World parks? Something like Isitpacked.com is for California parks?

So you want to get the tickets ASAP and download the MyDisneyExperience app, make a full party of everyone and choose any fastpass that you want. Fast passes at Disney world can be booked up to 60 days in advance for on site resort guests and 30 days for everyone else pretty much.
With military tickets just keep in mind that for first use the individual that gets the tickets must be with the party at first use , after that it should be fine. Discounts are hard to come by unless a Florida resident however Tickets at work , some AAA locations and GetAwayToday are reputable sources.

Also keep in mind depending on your situation it may be better for one person in your party to get an annual pass, AP holders get discounts on merch and dining and buying tickets for others on select days.
Galaxy’s Edge being a relative flop in Disneyland has led to some staffing repercussions. Catherine Powell, president of Disney Parks West (including Anaheim, Orlando, & Paris) is having her position eliminated and will be leaving the company in a month. Josh D’amaro, the current president of Disneyland Resort, will be leaving in the next month to take the same role at Disney World Resort in Orlando. Rebecca Campbell will now take the lead role at Disneyland Resort.
Supposedly the rumor that Rise of the Resistance kept breaking down was due to someone wanting to save money by going through some random chinese company, when there were established companies that had experience with that kind of ride system. So if that's the case, I'd hope heads would roll over such a bone headed move. They essentially opened a whole new land without a true E ticket ride.
I made one as well way back during the soft opening in Anaheim earlier this year. I only have a Green and Purple Kyber Crystal because Red and Blue are often out of stock...Red for obvious reasons, but Disney is doing everything they can to prevent people from going in and buying large bulk of Red Crystals in order to try to find the Black Crystal. Now you can only purchase 1 of each color per person. The Crystals have an RFID tag inside them that communicates with the blade to tell it which color to light up. The RFID codes have been hacked and with some know how you can actually recode the crystals to make the blade light up any of the other colors (Red, Blue, Green, White, Purple, Yellow). So I might just buy a white crystal and then code it to whatever colors I am missing.
Also, the person/group who hacked the RFID tags found that there are two unreleased colors: Orange and Teal. The problem with these two colors is that the current blades do not offer a way to create this color due to the LED controller so this means that Disney will probably either offer up a new blade or new hilt later on down the road. There are already rumors of more design types being added to Savi's along with more Legacy Sabers.
There is a “hack” to getting a black crystal if you want to spoil some of the magic for yourself.
Spoiler: show
They've stopped this at both parks. In Anaheim, all crystals are behind the counters and are not on display. They've even gone so far as to package the Red Kyber Crystal containers with a black strip of paper on the inside so you cannot determine if it's red or black. In Florida, last I heard Red Kyber Crystals are being sold out of package most likely due to stocking issues as they are pulling them from Savi's.
The new Disney World Skyliner (gondola) system that has been open for under a month already had its first accident and has been closed indefinitely while investigations take place. Reportedly some of the gondolas collided at one of the stations and caused the emergency stop. No guests see hurt but some guests were stranded in the gondolas for 3+ hours. Fortunately it happened from 8pm-11pm so they weren’t stuck in the sweltering heat. Firsthand reports indicate stranded guests were instructed to use the emergency briefcase under the seats if needed, the kits included emergency water and ice packs, diapers, and “waste disposal bags”. Affected guests were compensated by Disney with $100 gift cards and a one day park hopper pass.
The WDW gondolas are back in service today.
Bob Iger was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night and Kimmel asked him if Trump was impeached if they would remove him from the Hall of Presidents and Iger gave a coy “I’m gonna plead the 5th.” Personally I don’t think they would remove him completely but they would definitely remove his featured part.
I doubt they would. Though technically he resigned, Nixon is still in the hall of presidents.
