I've only been to Disney World once (not Land), but it was a ton of fun. I went when there was the food and wine festival and got to try all the fun treats. The only parks I haven't visited are the water ones, but those look cool too.

So when California adventure started their food and wine and festival of holidays here in Anaheim I was stoked because Epcot only ever got that before. Then was excited to try Epcot's and was so disappointed overall. Now a few things were absolutely amazing, lots of the drinks especially. But I miss my California food and wine so much now
Actually have two tabs from an annual passholder voucher that I can't use since the parks shut down mid festival.

I've been twice to WDW since it reopened with COVID restrictions and trying to justify a third trip for all the holiday yums.

Disney to layoff 32k in 2021.

Walt Disney Co said on Wednesday it would lay off about 32,000 workers, primarily at its theme parks, an increase from the 28,000 it announced in September, as the company struggles with limited customers due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The layoffs will be in the first half of 2021, the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Disney World is ending the Magical Express shuttle service to and from Orlando International Airport on Jan 1st, 2022.

They are also ending extra magic hours for resort guests beginning immediately. Instead, resort guests will be able to enter every park 30 minutes early each day of their vacation stay.

The level of meltdowns in my Disney Facebook groups have hit an all time high. It also made me realize I belong to WAY too many, lol.

Most people are complaining about them cutting services but even now as it runs you have to get your luggage. It can't come as a surprise as Disneyland in California is still closed along with others across thw world. MEARS runs the actual transportation via contracts so was a matter of time and this just expedited the decision likely.
The good news is a train system connecting MCO is supposed to be running by then but we all know how nothing ever opens on schedule to begin with.

Funny enough disneyland to my experience and knowledge since living in California never offered such yet this is never brought up. Most likely because WDW caters to a full resort experience and more international travelers as a whole.
I definitely make use of it and will miss it but it's not enough for me to cancel all my plans like so many are threatening.

On a related note, Defunctland recently put out a VR version of the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride.

Real talk, if it weren't for VR still being a low-population niche because of the hardware, I'd imagine Disney would be all over launching this as both a covid relief thing, and as a way to relief valve the the park overpopulation issues that were occurring before.

Though my nightmare would be Disney and Facebook/Oculus exclusively teaming up for it, because that would be actual Shadowrun levels of consumer rights fucked up for the VR userscape, and it'd work.

What other options are there? I am assuming Taxi's and uber/lyft would still work but I guess it's a cost thing since it's roughly 20 miles from the airport. Disneyland CA doesn't have anything like that from what I can recall even though John Wayne Airport appears to be a shorter distance to Disneyland when compared to the distance between Orland International and Disneyworld. We do have the ART buses that run between train stations, Disneyland, and Angel Stadium so there is always some form of public transport, but it isn't free.

An Uber or taxi from Orlando International is going to cost around $60 in non peak times. WDW also offers Minnie Vans (a Disney themed Lyft, basically) for $150 flat. Renting a car is honestly a better option imo.

Disneyland will be a covid vaccine super site.

The Disneyland resort in Orange County will become the region's first "super" distribution site, Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do said on Monday. It will have the capacity to vaccinate thousands of people daily.

Would depend on your length of stay and such. Remember you're also going to be paying something like $20 a day in parking at the resort.

Plus the company that Disney contracts with to handle MDE wants to continue the service. They'll probably just charge per seat and you have to handle your own luggage, so may still be cheaper than uber/lyft

Disneyland is ending its annual pass program. Refunds will be going out to existing passholders for the balance of time remaining on the passes when operations were suspended back on March 2020.

Honestly amazed it lasted this long with things shut down. As a longtime AP holder I am sad about it but given the state of things currently I agree it had to be done. Though even before this there were massive talks about ending it or greatly changing it due to the sheer volume of AP holders in parks on a given day.

I do think it will be a good year or two AFTER Disneyland reopens before a new program will be introduced and then much higher cost.
