So definitely mobile order asap , do not wait to do so when you feel hungry. You can always change the arrival window or cancel the order later. I heard stories of people having to wait 45 minutes or longer to get their order later in the day after 2-3pm. I walked from my hotel to the park via the esplanade and got in line around 11:20am and got inside DCA right at 12 noon Thursday.
First thing I did was place mobile orders at smoke jumpers grill , Cocina Cucamonga and a few other food booths. You can add the touch of disney card to your app to help pay for the food too.
In regards to how it compares there aren't as many booths but all are mobile order so that I loved. Offerings were decent though and lots of managers watching how things were going , it was an experience. Nor enough tables for sure and because of how DCA is set up with little shaded areas not indoors it got warm with a mask rather quickly and kind of got tired after eating and drinking my top choices.
Saw a few distanced character meets but because there wasn't really any entertainment and very few shops there is no way I could spend 8 hours there. There was an annual pass corner available but I didn't have my physical old pass with me so had to skip it. I suggest going early, know in advance what you absolutely want to do and take a break and come back if you can.
I booked Knotts berry farm Boysenberry tickets at a whim and honestly could have spent an enormous 8 hours there had my hotel been closer. They had so many more tables set up everywhere , more activities and almost all shops open and so many food stops because some offered the same options so none ever felt too long or crowded though picked up when I left by 4pm.

New park in Disneyland???
https://wdwnt.com/2021/03/breaking-d...park-and-more/
Also, boooo no waterpark. ;_;
There's only one way it comes close to happening - Disney funds a mass transit project to justify building over their parking lots. Because no way in hell would the city allow for more massive parking garages. Even then, adding more stuff to the Disneyland Resort area is going to clog the roadways that the recent freeway renovations can't keep up with the growth.
It looks like that may be part of their plan.
I am 50/50 on that thought. For one, this would force the entire Disney Guest population to the parking garages/downtown Disney. Which a. May fuck up freeway traffic. and b. Really sucks for the northbound exit. But it would reduce street traffic from people going to the various parking lots.
With that being said, the feud between Anaheim and Disney isn't just limited to the traffic and includes taxes and employee wages (Disney brings in jobs, but they are min. wage jobs).
Remember a couple years back they shutdown half of Downtown Disney to build a hotel? That deal fell through over tax issues.
The only way Disneyland is ever going to truly expand is when Disney makes enough money to justify making a Disneyland 2 somewhere else in CA with a ton more space (it does exist, I swear, you gotta go inland), and then shut down this one.
So never gonna happen.
I remember people made a big deal out of it. The city council approve a tax break in 2016 if I recall where Disney would get reimbursed some high percentage of the hotel occupancy tax over 20 years for the new hotel. That plan was for the hotel to be built on the north side of the Downtown Disney Parking lot and then after the tax break was approved they decided to move it to the location of the old Rainforest Cafe. The new city council pumped the breaks on it real quick and said the tax breaks were only for the hotel built in the parking lot.
As far as this going through, I am not very optimistic but it looks like they are trying to garner interest from the public since they have a whole website setup for it. Traffic might not be that big of a concern in the future because I have a suspicion that Disneyland is going to start artificially capping daily attendance post pandemic through a permanent reservation system to create a better overall guest experience where the park isn't overly crowded and they can charge more.
I do a lot of analytics on Disneyland rides time, crowds, and weather at the park for fun (3 years of data) and it will be interesting to see what the wait times will be like under the guidelines when they reopen on the 30th. Based on previous guestimates I have on capacity numbers, the park should feel like a mid-week day when it rains so wait times should be under an hour for sure.
Tickets went on sale today to reserve time at Disneyland and California Adventure. 3 hours in and even though all 60 days are currently available for reservation, the site crashed hard and the queue has been paused for over 20 min. People getting super anxious and antsy on the reddit discord. Very close to a meltdown...
Which place was that at? I went Friday and didn't get to see all of the food offerings.
Went to Disneyland this past weekend and it was so nice to not have the crowds due to the 25% capacity. This is what Main Street looked like at noon:
Ride wait times were mostly 30 min or less and it was pretty stress free. If you are a fan of Disneyland but hate the crowds, now would be the time to go because it is very surreal to not see the place jam packed with people. One can only hope that Disney will attempt to control crowds in the future by artificially capping attendance when the park can officially open up. In fact a lot of people enjoyed the low crowds so much that they said they would pay more for a ticket if Disney lowered the max amount of people that could gain entry for the day. I doubt this would happen because Disney has investors to please. Large crowds and gate closing scenarios are bad PR for the park, but it makes investors salivate.
Masks are no longer required outdoors at Disney World and Universal Orlando. Masks still required indoors for the time being.
Disneyland to open to out of state visitors on June 15th. Guess which fucking day I start my Disneyland trip, locals are so much better to deal with there than everyone comparing it to WDW , lol.
Though I will say the local area needs the business so really happy for them. Also means hotel prices are just going to go up so glad I booked early. California really needs a new DVC resort though.

Reservations will still be required for the foreseeable future. It goes 120 days out. I'm assuming there will be a fair bit of crowd control measures since the icons for the reservations have the Disneyland/DCA park starter icons on the calendar.
That webslinger "ride" is exactly how I expected it to be when I first heard about it...A rethemed AstroBlasters/MidwayMania but with motion tracking and 3d glasses.
I'm going on the 19th but to DCA. Debating if I want to get the park hopper, but I've been hearing that the parks are starting to get more crowded. It was so freaking nice when I went on the 1st of May...so empty, stress free, and easy to take my time to do what I wanted to do. I actually got on RoTR for the first time since the damn thing opened.
