Genie+ is now going to be sold at variable rate determined by demand. So that explains why they discontinued being able to buy it in advance a while back.

We just bought our park tickets a couple days ago (for January) and decided we'd hold off on genie passes, maybe even buy them the day of. Then they announce prices are going up, I think $5/day is what I heard. Get Away Today is honoring the lower prices for a few days, so I guess we'll be jumping on those now.

I can't speak for Disneyland, but genie plus mixed with my DAS was a life saver and worth every penny when I was at WDW last month.

DAS alone is a live saver, but we've only used it at Disneyland and California Adventure. The funny thing about the Genie+ going up in price is that it now pretty much negates the discount on the high tier Magic Key bringing it back down to its original price.

Ok, I just had a random question come up. My mother in law is going to join us for at least a couple days at the park. With her buying her tickets separately, will we have any difficulty coordinating lightning lane passes since we won't be on the same reservation?

As long as you are all linked together in the MyDisneyExperice ( MDE) app for Walt Disney World or Disneyland app for Disneyland, it will be fine.

Any issues I'd just visit any guest relations cast member , usually found under the blue umbrella with podiums and a shorter wait than the typical " Town hall" spots.

I'm a Disneyland regular so that's where my expertise lies now , but I grew up in Florida and travel there often as well. If you want any help planning for dining , tickets , hotels day tp day stuff , etc, please let me know. I really just enjoy helping people enjoy the parks the best they can. Someday I may be a travel agent as people suggest lol. Feel free to post here or PM me

So I just used both the other day as October is usually off limits to me to visit because of how busy it is ( aside from attending Oogie Boogie Bash) even at $20 and only ending up at DCA that day , it allowed me to do every ride well before 7pm, and that was with a 3 hour "break" at Trader Sam's , lol. It's only worth it imo if you're at the parks all day when it is this busy. I'm talking 2.5 hr standby for Radiator Springs , 45 minutes for Little Mermaid , 85 minutes Web Slingers.
I'm also a solo traveler 99.99% of the time and lately maybe eat once a day at the parks just due to not being hungry, so it all works out. One day I need to go from 8am to midnight both parks and see just how much I can do in one day and record it. Might be able to see in December.

I've never bought Genie+ mainly for personal reasons, but can you actually stack DAS and Genie+ and double dip, or are you still limited to one booking at a time? I am personally trying to work out a system that can plan out a ride schedule based on projections to get an estimate on how long it would take to ride the big rides at Disneyland and compare to Genie+ to see exactly how much time is saved on average.

Yeah that's why I always just do the pre register but glad you went to another person because someone holding a spot does not work at all and people find it rude and asks questions , etc.

So with DAS as you know you can only select one at a time.
Genie plus is different , as you can only book one at a time , HOWEVER , you can hold both G+ and DAS at the same time which is what I do on the busiest days ( basically all of October lol). Every 2 hours or after you redeem the Genie+ you can make another selection. People "fish" using Genie+ by booking an attraction that goes down often ( Indy , Webslingers, TOy Story Mania , etc.) , because if it goes down you will get a Multiple experience pass and IMMEDIATELY be able to book a new Genie plus selection. While it has limitations what you can use it on , it's good for attractions at both parks and lists what you can use it on. It depends which attraction goes down the tier of MEP ( Multiple experience pass) will be loaded.

Also take account weather , if you see its lightning on raining book outdoor rides asap , because they WILL shut down and that's an easy "fished" pass

Wife and I flew to Disney this weekend for the food and wine fest with a couple of co-workers. Weird trip, but fun and cheap. All 4 of us split one of their cheap all star resorts. Flew in on Friday, hit Disney springs Friday night, and I got way too drunk there with my co-workers. Wife essentially had to babysit us.

Saturday we got to epcot for the food and wine festival. I had us some corny shirts made because we planned to "drink around the world" by drinking at all 11 countries.



At Epcot, we got ride reservations for the new Guardians cosmic rewind coaster, but it was down at our reservations time. Luckily we were able to go later and still use the reservations. The ride was fantastic, like space mountain x100. Def one of my top 3 Disney rides/attractions.

After getting wasted on like 3 drinks at Springs, I didn't have high hopes of getting through all 11 countries. I planned as well as I could. Started off in Canada vs Mexico because we didn't want to start with tequila. I carried a bottle of water and drank a ton and tried to eat plenty. Not only did I get through all 11 countries, I hit the unofficial African Outpost as well to make it 12.

In Canada I had apple ice wine
In the UK I had the lucky leprechaun cocktail
In France I had an orange slush (grand Marnier alcoholic slush)
In Morocco, I had a frozen citrus pomegranate alcohol slush
Japan - Violet sake
America - lemonade cocktail
Italy - Italian margarita
Germany - grapefruit beer
African Outpost - alcoholic mango slushie
China - Bye Joe shot
Norway - some kind of viking beer
Mexico - avocado margarita

Morocco was by far the best. That citrus pomegranate drink was one of the best things I've ever drank and their kebabs were amazing.

Worst drink was the Bye Joe shot. It tasted like straight rubbing alcohol. It was fucking awful, but put very little bulk on the stomach after drinking and eating so much.

We wanted to eat at Space 220, a restaurant that looks and acts like a spaceship taking off to orbit. Looks really neat but couldn't get reservations. We got free parkhopper passes because one of my coworker's family member is cast at animal kingdom and they can give out free cast tickets. Hell, he's taken her to behind the scenes safari stuff...but he could not get reservations at all.

We did all our drinking at Epcot between noon and 6pm, so we decided to hit animal kingdom to ride Avatar since we finished earlier than expected. Then we left there and hit magic kingdom around 9pm. Rode the train and then closed out the night on the haunted mansion. We flew home Sunday. All-in-all, amazing time and spent less than $1,000 for the whole weekend, including flights and lodging.

Nice glad you had fun. I actually prefer to start in Mexico and finish in Canada. My line of thinking is I want to be able to enjoy the nice tequila in Mexico and if I start in Canada I might not be coherent enough to fully enjoy the tequila by the time I make it to Mexico lol

But yes. One drink per country, drink water and grab some food is the way to do it. So many people fail the world tour because they don’t hydrate and that central Florida sun can be brutal and end your day early if you aren’t careful.

I was horrible on my drinking around the world attempts. Astylla got me a reservation for the tequila tasting/history thing, and when I got there they gave me a pregame margarita, then did the tequila tasting which was five different types of tequila, then another one for the road for free when I left, followed by a beer with my lunch at the Mexico booth.

Think I wound up only doing like four countries on my attempt lol.

I haven't been to Disney World in years now and that sounds like a blast. I wouldn't even make it halfway through heh. I have a somewhat strong tolerance but I'm only 5'9" 140ish and even if I have food on my stomach with the hard stuff I start getting a buzz really quickly.

As far as Space 220 goes, ITS AMAZING.
Little know tip : ALWAYS ask for the lounge seating same day , often there is availability to walk up. Last WDW trip I did Space 220 3 times.
First dining room ( Dinner) , second lounge ( lunch) and invited random Disney Facebook friend to join , third in dining room again ( dinner).

Making dining reservations actually takes work and luck , but I subscribe to a webiste that texts me direct links to openings as they come. I will literally get SPAMMED with Space 220 openings 24 to 36 hours before as people cancel a ton. So if you ever need one, goes for anyone, let me know and I will secure it.
I'm that person lol.

I can't wait to go back for Festival of the Arts , its.my FAVORITE Epcot festival with Flower and Garden right behind.

I really liked Space 220! I was not aware it was a prefix before I got there. I was probably going to get a chicken or pasta dish but when I learned it was prefix I was like welp might as well get the filet mignon since it’s all the same price! I asked for medium and they were closer to medium well but I honestly didn’t mind because it was still sooooo good. For the three course prefix dinner, two cocktails (I think? Maybe it was 3…), and tip, it ended up being around $165. So definitely one of the pricier options on property but the theming and ambiance are top notch. I would do it again.
