There are sites that let you buy the points for a single trip off of someone who was suckered into the MLM/cult themsleves, which allows you to save maybe up to half price on the rooms for some effort and allows you to stay at resorts/rooms that are locked behind that system. It's a one time thing, you are not actually buying the timeshare, you are just effectively renting the timeshare from someone once.

This is the site we used once, it was a bit of a pain to deal with, but it saved us a few thousand dollars staying in a nicer room for a week:

DVC is disneys official timeshare company and yes it’s the typical timeshare bullshit BUT when you rent DVC points you are taking advantage of other people in the cult.

Basically, someone who has bought the timeshare period and can’t use it for whatever reason is looking to make back a little bit of money on their investment so it’s not a total loss, so they “rent” their timeshare points to you. You pay them, they book the room for you, and you vacation using their time. You can save a lot of money this way without actually joining DVC yourself. I do not recommend contacting DVC members directly to do this because you could get scammed. Instead book thru a reputable third party service like DVC Rental Store. They will handle the bookings and if the seller tries to scam, they get blacklisted and DVC Rental Store will get you another similar room at no additional cost to you.

Oh okay. I'll check it out. Is the idea that these bookings can a good deal of people trying to liquidate their points?

Oh, and it looks like the next Disney CEO is a Parks guy: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/03/b...amaro-ceo.html

I had no idea Parks made 60% of Disney's profit.

Besides early entry, not having to pay for parking every day + not having my tired ass having to drive, especially as I enjoy my mid day breaks and being able to just hop on a gondola, bus, or boat back to my resort is worth the extra money in my book.

Last time I went, I looked at the car rental cost + parking + travel time and it was a wash price wise.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    Cult member here:

Our points expire after a certain amount of time, so those who are poor planners can rent them out to recoup the loss as best they can.

FYI, if you are thinking of renting DVC, I would look into booking now because there are businesses who bought timeshare points strictly to profit off of renting them, and Disney is finally trying to crack down on that which may mean supply will go down (and therefore prices go up).

My two cents on rentals: convenience =any monorail hotel, wow factor=Animal Kingdom Lodge (warning, I highly recommend everyone stay here at least once in their lifetime because it can’t be beat however expect to walk far to your room which can royally suck after a day of walking at the park), in between these two extremes=Riviera/Boardwalk

FWIW for outside: uber makes renting off site much easier, so yeah always an option. Growing up we had timeshare at High Point World Resort, which rents nights. You might want to look at them. It WILL feel like you stepped into an episode of the Golden Girls as I think it still has the same Floridian wallpaper from the 80s, BUT it is literally next to the Disney highway, and it’s probably the most spacious place you’ll find (2 bedroom townhome).

It has no fancy amenities but the pool is huge and the jacuzzi feels nice.

I also don't understand how people can go to the park and have half a day, go back to the room for a nap, and then leave to go back to the exact same park.

Like you just wasted 2 hours round trip plus whatever you needed to do the nap. That's crazy to me with theme park prices and how it is challenging to do an entire theme park in one day. If you're visiting the same park on multiple days then I get it, but also why are you doing that when you can just do it in one day? Maybe it's different in CA where you only have the two parks that feel smaller than anything in Disney World (except Hollywood studios that place always felt small to me). Maybe it's different if you have mobility issues cause I am definitely exhausted after a full day of theme parking without a nap.

If it's your once-in-a-lifetime trip or you only have one or two days I could see going balls to the wall all day, but I'm an annual passholder that goes at least twice a year (sometimes 3-4) so I'm not sweating if I can't DO ALL THE THINGS in one day. Plus if you go during the brutal summers you really should take a break (especially if you got kids or elderly in your travel party) or everyone is gonna be so cranky by the end of the day, are you really having a good time at that point?

I go for multi day trips. I'd much rather rope drop, being there at 7-8, go till 1, go back to my room for a shower and power nap, then head back to close.

If I go all day every day, by day 4 I'm going to be dragging ass.

And this is coming from someone who has done the four park one day challenge

This is basically us when we go.

We try to plan it out to stick to one park per day and rip drop. You can finish most stuff by noon, go back and take a nap, then return to finish off the night. We then get a couple extra days for park hopping to revisit stuff before we go.

Only semi-exception is Animal Kingdom which closes early. We do that one on the first day because we finish by like 1, and go back and rest since we still are jet lagged.

They need to have, "Adult rest areas" inside the parks. Imagine nice cozy little rooms with beds or oversized recliners. Isolated from outside noise with low soft light and AC of course. Have the possibly of ordering a cocktail and a snack then drift off to sleep for a few hours. All the while the kids go off to their own little area and play games or make crafts being supervised by one of those, "super fun" park staff.

Do you kick yourself if you only go 2 times a year? that seems crazy unless you're a Florida resident and you're not looking at the price I'm looking at.

Yeah, I'm surprised that's not a thing. I'd imagine that would be super economical for the type of adults that want to be there but don't really want to participate in all the walking.

I’m a FL resident, it’s a little over a three hour drive for me to get there. Not so bad. I could drive there and back in one day if I wanted (I’ve done it but I REALLY don’t recommend it). I keep an eye out on hotel deals and pending my work schedule I’ll sometimes come down for 2-3 days at a time.
