Stamkos is always welcome in Calgary . But if we traded for his rights before his free agency period, we'd definitely have to give up a combo of like Monahan/Bennett + Brodie/Giordano/Hamilton + prospect/draft picks to get him.

The funny thing is that thinking about it, if by some miracle we didn't trade Monny or Benny (obviously this is all a hypothetical here) Calgary would have such a logjam of centers. And during the Iginla era, down the center was where Calgary was weakest lol. Even without the trade, as it is Calgary has so many centers. Monny, Benny, Backlund, Stajan, Colborne and Granlund. And then there are guys like Hudler, Bouma and Jooris who are all listed as Centers too, but who I wouldn't even associate the position with anymore considering how rarely they're slotted into the spot. Of the 15 forwards listed on the roster on the Flames website, only 6 are actually listed as wingers lol

And Vasp, Bernier is 2-18-4 since his last regulation win, which came on March 3. That was the game against Florida where the Panthers had to have Luongo re-dress after coming out due to injury because Al Montoya also got hurt and couldn't even move in the net.

What I'm trying to say is I'm not sure you can write this slump off as an "anomaly." He has a SV% of 0.888 since that win against the Panthers.

Honestly, I have no idea what Calgary/Treliving+Burke are trying do with our goalie situation. Obviously there is some interest in Bernier otherwise Treliving and Burkie wouldn't have both been to the game to watch him play. But frankly, Treliving has been a fucking rock star as a GM for the team so far and he and everyone else knows this "3-goalie tandem" was a shit idea and that Hiller isn't that good and Ortio isn't a good option as a new, young goalie either. Ramo is okay, and he's playing a hell of a lot better since they just gave him the reins as #1 a couple weeks ago but still, he's far from a bonafide top NHL #1 in net.

Like I said before and like I'll keep saying, in Jon Gillies we trust! (Mason McDonald can also make a HUUUUGE case for himself if he plays well in the World Juniors coming up too)

Edit: Also, funny fact. Even if Bernier only has an 0.888 SV% since that loss, that's still better than Hiller's current 0.862 lol. Ramo managed to get his back up to 0.903 with his recent play but his was around 0.860~ish too for his first 10 starts lol

Those listings are always fucked. Caps website has Beagle as a RW when he's played center for a while, Laich is a C when he's mostly used at LW, etc etc.
