Johnny being picked for the 3 on 3 tourney was a given. But if they had to choose a defenseman from Calgary, I'd rather Brodie than Gio.
But yeah, holy crap at the players who didn't make it lol.

Fan voting and needing one player from every team so everyone has a reason to watch are both stupid as hell. It's kind of funny how hard All Star games try soooooooooo hard to be relevant, and still nobody cares. The NHL All Star Draft was the best thing they have done for it.
He's injured and hasn't even been all that good defensively this year, kind of stupid for someone to list him just cause he has a bunch of points. Looks like a list of guys either having break out years who didn't get picked, or guys who were good last year and kinda shitting it up this year.
JVR is having a low key awesome season. He's leading the Leafs in points (14 goals, 14 assists), I think he's only one goal behind Leo for the team lead in goals. He's looked very good. One of many players on the Leafs that Babcock has had a clear and obvious effect on.
Sorry about last night Wulfy, truly. Helleboy stole that one. Kinda annoyed that Jets are just hurting their chances for Matthews, but good on Helleboy doing what he needs to do to stay up in the NHL.
Fuck Corey Perry.

Of those people I would really only expect Henrik, Thornton or Kopitar to beat out Perry. The rest are rookies, guys have a hot season, and Jeff Carter.
I don't really care much about fan voting but without requiring a rep or two from each team it's not really an All Star game, it's a game between the best players from the four or five best/most popular teams in the league. I won't speak for anyone else but I sure don't want to watch that.
All Star game to me says the best players in the league this season, why should a player having a mediocre year, on a bad team, go over players having fantastic years on good teams, or good years on bad teams(ARI doesn't even get a real player cause of the fans). If a player is legit having a great year and happens to be on a bad team, then they should go, but a guy with 20-25 points going over someone with 35-40 points, just to include everyone? Just silly imo.
Should almost make 6 teams, 1 for each division, 1 rookie/sophomore (or below the age of 24) team, and 1 purely Fan-vote team. If they want an even 8 team tourney, could do a 35+older team and a GM/Coaches voted in team?
I mean, that still leaves players out. Don't want to insult a fan-base, so maybe a team to represent all 30 teams? But the tournament would get so long that they'd be better off with doubling the roster size. But then the tournament would get really long, so you'd want to do like a round robin system to determine which top 16 teams get into the main tournament. But you'd want to make sure there's lots of rivalries and etc, so have some teams play each other more often.
Essentially, make the All-Star game a season long tournament where each team sends all their players to play in a tournament that coincides with the regular season.
I dunno, to me the All Star game is a league-wide thing and each team in the league should be represented by *somebody*, whether that person is the best player on the team or just a fan favourite in that market. If we're just taking the best players in the league you could almost make a team out of the Stars and Blackhawks combined.
By that logic we should have an All Star vs All Pity game
edit: something something Oilers play 82 of those games something
Lecavalier + Luke Schenn to the Kings
No kuznetsov?! RAWR
They should just get rid of the all-star game and just have a huge skills competition instead.
Why the fuck would the kings do that?!?Jordan Weal and 3rd rd pick to PHI for Lecavalier and Luke Schenn.
edit: Philly retaining 50% of both players salary.
