I mean, two seasons ago he scored 51 goals and was still a -35 on the season. I'm not saying 500 isn't an accomplishment but I can sort of see Sep's point as well. Iggy hit 600 like a week ago and he didn't get nearly as much attention.

I fucking love the guy. He fully believes that the majority of the costs of building a new arena should be privately funded and the initial proposal that CalgaryNEXT made (something like the Flames would pay $200m and the city/public funding would cover somewhere like $700-900m) was total garbage (albeit, he said it in pretty politic words). Just love that he isn't letting Bettman and the league walk all over him.

I will say it was kinda weird Oshie did it, considering he's only been here a half season. But fuck the haters, if the rest of the team is cool with it I sure as hell don't mind.

Iggy's only 38. He's also a fitness nut and is still scoring 20~30 goals a year. He could easily pull a Jagr and play into his 40's if he wanted

It was actually planned by Trotz, and GMBM called Bettman and got an OK from the NHL to let the team jump on the ice IF he scored at home(he wasn't sure if it would be a penalty). Then Trotz quietly went to all the players and told them the plan(as well as the Refs). Ovi had no idea, and Oshie just happened to be the closest guy on the bench/fastest off the bench.
