Quick while in break: hearing LA/Richards settlement will count against cap, but lower amount spread long-term. Not sure if same as buyout.

Did the original termination of his contract count against the cap? I don't remember

Original termination was a $1.3mil hit for 5 years. Buyout would have been about in the ballpark of $2 or 3 mil per year over 10 with years 4 and 5 having a $4.5mil hit.

Reading tweets about it. Seems like the $1.3mil/year for 5 years is still part of the cap recapture.

Yeah, he's on TSN ALL THE TIME and seems like a pretty cool doode. But yeah, these are charges not just allegations so must be pretty significant. I don't see him reappearing on TSN any time soon if ever.

Cary police confirm Aaron Ward arrested for misdemeanor assault on female. His wife Kelly was arrested for simple assault, a misdemeanor.

Terms for the Kings-Richards finalized. Kings will have the $1.32mil cap hit for the next 5 years (through the 2019-2020 season) plus a continuing cap hit starting this season until 2031 (for the full cost of the settlement). Still not detailed on how much this additional cap hit will be. Richards is now eligible to sign with any NHL team.
