Down to the last 7 games at Rexall as well. It's funny because where the new arena is being built and all the other stuff for the "Ice District" is such a ehhhhh part of the city. Got an email from the Oilers asking if I wanted to enter the draw to be able to get season tickets for the new arena. But it's cuz I had to create an account earlier this season when my buddy was e-transferring tickets to me that he couldn't use. So jokingly I was bugging my GF like "Oooooh, we can get snazzy tickets with the private dining for only $15,500 each." Lawl

I think it's kinda funny how it all worked out though.
Katz invested like $2 to the entire arena - got Gov't funding etc for lots of it. Keeps the rights to profits around the building like from the concessions etc. Sold the naming rights to Rogers for more money (pretty soon every arena in Canada period will be Rogers __________ at this pace.) So now he's standing to make money hand over fist in revenue without spending much. To top it off, about a week or so ago he sold Rexall period to a US company for $3B.

The shitty thing is then you have Bettman try to push mayor Nenshi around like "New arena guys.... make it or we'll do stuff. 3 hrs north is getting a new place. Your turn, or else..." etc threats when ultimately our owner built this one without really having to spend any of his own cash. Calgary isn't gonna get that same kinda deal anytime soon

Thought it was mentioned here already but maybe not. Definitely read that somewhere though.

Also looks like Blues GM is going to propose a lottery adjustment to prevent teams from constantly picking first overall. Basically, you can't move up to first twice in five years. You could still theoretically finish last two seasons in a row and win the lottery both times. But you couldn't pull an Edmonton and move up over Buffalo.
