Good time at the game. Unfortunately the wife and I were stuck in front of two fucking idiot older guys that did nothing but talk the entire fucking game. Loudly. It was clear they were the know it all fans who know nothing. Ugh. We ended up moving a few seats down after the people sitting next to us left.
HABS WIN!!

jesus, the passing by the Caps tonight is insane. J.Will to Nicky and Kuzya another great pass to find Yoshie in front.
Oshieeeeeee
I still can't believe BJ's have no points. Have they given up already?
Tell me someone else watched the TB v NSH game? Holy fucking shit that game was amazeballs to the nth power. Perds won in the SO after a nuts OT.
Wasn't even able to watch the game tonight but from what I read on twitter, doesn't seem like I missed much. This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better
It almost feels like you guys are the Colorado this year. Over-achieved the previous year, and then pppppth so far this season.
a) It's still only a handful of games in.
b) TJ Brodie and Smid are hurt. The latter being less of an issue, but still.
However, for a team touted as "OMG, they have 54983405 all world dmen on their roster!" it's crazy how once one of them went down, it all fell apart. You'd think one of them could step up in the absence, but even Hamilton is looking lost as balls out there so far.
I'm hoping for 3 Ws in a row after tomorrow night's game is done vs Detroit, but we'll see. Hendricks is hurt, which sucks. Hopefully they'll put Andrew Miller on the top line to take his place, since they were rolling Hall/Nuge/Hendricks last game, since it worked. Using Purcell there before was terribad, hopefully he doesn't just slide back into that #1 RW spot. Pouliot/McDavid/Yak looks pretty good so far, and now Connor seems to be playing with more confidence every shift, and all Yak has to do is keep his stick on the ice and be ready when the puck finds him. Would be pretty sick if that line keeps it going and then in Nov when Hall/Nuge/Ebs are a line again, that could be a pretty solid top-6.
I would hope four #1 picks + Eberle could combine to make a "pretty solid" top 6.
Dougie is still gonna take a bit of time to adjust to the Flames system. Guy is still only 22 after all. And yeah, Brodie really showing his worth after his injury. I've been singing his praises for like 3 years now and I'm glad his absence is finally making people reconsider his value to the team. I think he and Dougie will be the #1 pairing for the Flames as early as this season.
The team is still really young too, at least the heart of the team that'll eventually be the core. Brodie is the oldest at 25, but then you got guys Monny (21), Johnny (22), Dougie (22), Bennett (19). I'm sure I've said this a few times but the team was still like 2~3 years away from being consistently competitive. And the eventual #1 goalie is still only in the AHL at the moment (hi2uJonGillies).
It's funny, every time I meet any random Flames fans and talk about the team, everyone seems to be in the mind-set that they're ready to challenge for the cup. One guy was even adamant that Hiller was the guy we should be trying to keep as our #1. And they're always shocked when I say that Hiller should be traded and that we're still 2~3 years away. Most of em haven't even heard of Gillies and some think Ortio is our top goalie choice, which, while he's a pretty decent goalie, he's not our best choice.
Edit: Everyone and their dog was saying "Calgary is going to be the next Colorado/Toronto" even as early as when the Flames made the playoffs last season. And honestly, it's most likely gonna be true. I just hope it doesn't turn out that way. It is still only 6 games into the season after all![]()
