Off the top of my head the example from his speech this past week.
Could be taken to mean about abortions and gay marriage, but he doesn't point out either so as to not turn people off.I cannot hide my concern for the family, which is threatened, perhaps as never before, from within and without
That's pretty "damned if you do, damned if you don't" right there.
I HATE THAT HE'S AGAINST ABORTION
I HATE THAT HE DOESN'T ALWAYS TALK ABOUT BEING AGAINST ABORTION
No lol. More like "I know he's against abortion and I hate that he avoids mentioning it to pander to the crowd." He's supposed to not be a politician.
Although, I personally don't care about that particular instance too much. Xno Kappa asked for an example and I provided one.
He's not pandering - part of his focus is to stop the incessant fixation among bishops and cardinals over abortion and gay marriage and return to helping the poor. It's a pivot that we should be applauding, but for some reason you're slamming him for it.
It's pretty clear you're going to hate any and all popes. It's very edgy.
I like that you used a term to demean him in a way that you would a teenager as if talking about religion as anything other than terrible is logical.
This is essentially playing the "I'm not racist...but..." card. Everything you've said here and in the other thread indicate that the above statement is simply not true. I don't know why you can't just own it. You hate the leader of Catholicism by association. It's a better look than constantly backing the truck up everytime you're called on it.
Wow, yeah. Talk about absolutes. Because I have to either love him or hate him right?
I've said time and time again, I think he is undeserving of all the progressive praise he is getting. The things he is saying and doing are the least someone in his position could do. Why does this mean I hate the man? I just don't see all the progress everyone else is jumping up and down for. I provided examples of areas where his views are woefully outdated, and even harmful because of the position he holds.
Funny you use the racist argument, since it's exactly some of the bigoted opinions he holds that make me question him.
Tyrath - do you think abortion is a sin?
The entire point I've been making is that just because he is slightly better than his predecessors doesn't mean that he is great. He's a slight improvement and should be treated as such.
But hey, maybe one other person will eventually use actual examples to support their claims rather than make asinine comments.
I actually don't, are you an atheist or what?
Yes. And I don't believe in sin.
So...no? Yes? Invalid question?
I'm willing to meet the Pope in the middle as a gesture of good faith (lul) and the fact that the church pivoting away from the hardcore doctrine beating is overall beneficial to those like myself who aren't about that religion life. He's never going to line up with my belief set but that's obvious considering he's you know, the fucking Pope.
Enough with all the hell and damnation and lets work together to address real issues. Like homelessness, like treating your fellow man with respect etc.
