after the Jung-Ho Kang injury and others I'm thinking the take out slide should go the way of the catcher collision. I don't think it adds enough to the game to be worth the injury risk

He left the field because the ump was in his face with an incorrect out call. If the ump hadn't incorrectly called him out he would have touched the base that he missed in the slide, which is exactly what the replay official correctly ruled.

I don't know why everyone's panties are all in a bunch about the Utley slide. It was perfectly legal and hard slides like this happen almost daily during the season. Do we really want a repeat of the stupid ass catcher interference rule for plays at 2B now? Its probably the second worst rule in sports next to the NFL catch rule, and you know the umps are going to screw it up just as badly.
