Restraining order question (case dismissed) Sadly, not a CS story

Sorry, it's not a CS thread.


My friend was involved w/ some wacko and he filed a restraining order on her for stalking after she was trying to collect money she let him borrow (Told her not to, etc. lol)

Anyways, there was a temporary order issued during the court case, but the case was ultimately thrown out and his restraining order was not granted.

That said, it still shows up on public records, etc. She's worried about it affecting future employment (she's a 4th year in Pharmacy school)

Does anyone know anything about these types of things? She thinks she's not going to be able to get her license for even having it filed, despite it being dismissed


Edit: will some mod add the not a CS disclaimer to the title; so people don't get excited for nothing?

If it was not granted, why would it show on public record? She needs to talk to an agent of the court that issued it.

I don't think you can seal civil cases? That's for criminal cases (though medical/govt jobs/education can see sealed/expunged records anyways)

Expungement is not available for ordinary traffic tickets, Orders of Protection, or civil orders or judgments.

Sealing is not available for civil orders or judgments.

Being accused of anything is pretty much an instant game over in life. Seen as guilty no matter what (especially in things like stalking or rape accusations)

Hmm fair enough but that's pretty much a derail question. Sealed, expunged, or left as is, it makes no diff. (Medical field, govt jobs, education) can see both sealed and expunged records in the US. So It's not a matter of keeping them from seeing it since that shouldn't be possible.
