I think I actually liked S2 better than S1, but S3 didn't do too much for me. I couldn't feel for any of the characters so it took me forever to get through that season, hopefully S4 turns it back around

season 3 was actually my favorite, 2 may have gotten there but the UFO nonsense kinda blew it up.

S2 had a much better story and better writing, but I found S1 way more amusing while also being 99% as good in other ways.

    Okay then

thought s2 was one of the greatest seasons of tv i'd ever watched

    s1 was good

s3 was a guy telling a story over and over and over. obnoxiously grating

FX is mercifully not leaving the Fargo train anytime soon. The cable network has renewed Noah Hawley’s acclaimed anthology drama for a fifth season, as announced during the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour. The show last aired at the end of 2020, but there’s no update on when the next installment will air.

The brief description for season five is naturally cryptic. It takes place in 2019 and will tackle the following questions: “When is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?” FX Chairman John Landgraf called the upcoming season “contemporary” and “set in the upper Midwest,” during an executive session at TCA.

“The first script for this season came in yesterday. Noah Hawley has always found a way of respecting and making a reference to the original Coen movies and inventing new stories. [Season five] has an echo and rhyme with the movie, but it’s really original,” Landgraf added. He also confirmed that Fargo season five will begin shooting later this year in the winter.

While I enjoyed Fargo Season 4 just fine, it felt more like a traditional crime drama than most seasons of Fargo do. This looks more like a return to form, and I'm looking forward to it.

    i liked 4, yeah

partly because it was making distance away from the complete piece of utter DOGSHIT that season 3 was

whatever the case, i'll be happy to watch stuff but i also doubt they'll ever come close to season 2's all time greatness

    slow your roll son

season 2 clears but i dug 3 a lot, would prolly rank em 2 3 1 4 tbh. 4 was byyyyyyyy farrrrrrrrrrr the worst, even then not really bad just not much compared to the other 3.

i will agree to disagree on the basis that if a story's primary content is a villain armed with bad teeth and monologues that consume 100000% of his screen time, then said content is sewer water

that said i am surprised s1 wasn't at least #1 or #2 for you, since it seems like that's one that's kinda sacred for plenty of people

The season 5 announcement reminded me I haven't seen S4 yet because it's basically not available to watch in Canada anywhere, so I've "found" it to watch over the next week or so. I didn't think S3 was that bad but that's maybe in large part due to how great I thought Ewan McGregor was at playing two characters, and how hot Mary Elizabeth Winstead was.

season 3 is definitely the most divisive. as Kisada say the main antagonist operates as a form of thematic evil, like Chigurh from No Country or Joker in Dark Knight, more than as an actual character, but i loved him. the accomplice Yuri as well. the antagonist side of things felt like a companion piece to Lord of War (a movie i love) in that more than individuals the evil is in the hearts of men, the evil is greed, strife, voracious hunger to use and consume, a Warhammer warp God extant in all rather than one bad person doing bad things. echoed throughout in how Emmitt hurt his brother. indeed the season's ending was a direct echo of Lord of War's ending, but with a more optimistic, undetermined final note.

then ye i loved McGregor and Winstead as well, all the seasons but 4 were beautifully cast and acted. loved the robot story, the whole side episode in 1970s LA. loved it all to pieces unashamedly.

1 is definitely closest to the movie and has Billy Bob chewing the scenery which grabs people, but i thought 3 was a lot more interesting thematically, willing to be less safe. then 2 is a straight downfall of a dynasty mastapiece, one of the better seasons of television filmed. Hanzee is the best character Noah Hawley ever wrote.
