"how is that a secret omfg"
Lol... I don't hate Kipling >_> And I wasn't kicked from Apathy... I never took a 6 month break either. I think he has me confused with someone else lol.

Everywhere
Why stop now?
I love criticism. Absolutely love it, crave it and appreciate it most when it unfiltered and honest. Frankly, I expected a WAY bigger backlash. I expected WAY WAY WAY more people to be pissed with me. What's surprised me is the genuine dialogue about your mod techniques, subreddit and the nature of criticism (which you have yet to really address in any meaningful way) that has sprung up. I find it hilarious that someone could even attempt to say I censor or ignore criticism when so often I bring it into the open, and onto the show to address it, I'm certainly not the one deleting threads and deleting comments. Now, I'm sure you'll just respond by trying to attack my character or credibility, but sadly for you friend, what's odne is done and we can't unmake the conversation. For 11 pages you've tried (with varying degrees of success) to get people to bag on me here and yet it keeps coming back around to the original point that there's a problem with /r/ffxiv.
Those that don't like LBR: Good. I won't waste time defending a single decision I make on that show. But I make the show knowing full well that it's not for everyone. In fact with the intention that it wont be for everyone. We're not catering to raiders or casuals. We're not going for the widest possible audience. We're not even an information source. When I pitched the show to the crew I said that I didn't want to make a show for "them". I want to make a show for "us". Some people want their media calm and kind or rational and reasonable, and I totally get that. I couldn't work at an NPR affiliate if I didn't. But there are other people who like a little bit of anarchy and unpredictability. To explore that is inherently more dangerous for any product, media, brand, radio station, tv station/show, podcast movie, etc. but we had the balls to go that route. The end result has been a show that's far more fun for us to make. I don't give a shit who I upset or when someone doesn't like it. You're (a general "you" not anyone specifically) probably an uptight raid leading cunt who cant take a joke anyway, so wtf do I care what you think? You can save the "you're not good enough at this game to have that opinion" bullshit for Twitch streamers who actually buy into that logic. Worst case scenario for us everyone drops our Patreon like a bad habit and we go back to making the show once a month. This isn't my job and I have plenty of other things to validate myself with so I don't cling to LBRs success or failure like a life raft. As far as the Patreon, we established the show for a year, doing what we wanted to do before we asked anyone for support. People responded. It's cool, but ultimately goes to grow our product.
But, go ahead. Tell me again how nothing I say matters because I haven't met an arbitrary goal line that is, honestly, fucking meaningless. Cause last I checked this wasn't about whether or not I raid, but it was about how you moderate your forum which has exactly fuck all to do with FFXIV raiding.
Just some quotes I loved
We dont take ourselves seriously, why would anyone else? You nailed our content strategy. Bravo. PS say 'hi' sometime.Echoing most of what Uryuu's already said, I've never really understood why anyone cares that LBR isn't accurate when it comes to a decent portion of the game. The podcast is clearly made for entertainment purposes and provoking reactions in different portions of the community so that they gain more viewers / listeners. Taking them seriously is laughable.
The fact that there's even 1 person who still takes this seriously makes me so happy you have no idea.
Real shit. I know we get a rep for being long a screamy but we can have serious discussions too. Even adult semi-confrontational conversations that don't degenerate into name calling. We have a track record of being able to have a serious discussion when it's warranted. If any of the r/ffxiv mods actually want to take it seriously I've put the offer on the table to talk it out on the air multiple times.Side-note: I think the only thing that's going to be accomplished by all of this is that we're all gonna find popcorn kernels in our teeth awhile later. It's pretty clear there's zero intent of a civilized discussion here, and that's kind of saddening, because if people were civilized about this we could have had a real conversation that could serve to genuinely make things better. Instead we just have popcorn drama that we're all going to forget about in a few days.
just. this.
(mad respect to Kip who worked really hard on his show. was super bummed to see it go. Kip gets it.)
So much this. Any rudeness when trying to make a point is fine, to an extent. It basically dilutes your point. And if you take that analogy to the rant that started this, it's pretty much diluted beyond recognition. Dude could be 100% right and he's still an idiot. Does Tourettes come out in typed stuff?
I would listen to LBR if it wasn't you guys doing it and it was entirely based on this premise:

I haven't tried to do shit. In fact, I wasn't even the one who started the train into the LBR hate. And I don't think you get how BG works. This thread will continue in the following cycle: Fuck Reddit, Fuck LBR, But I like Reddit, Fuck Reddit, But I like LBR, Fuck LBR, some topic that has NOTHING to do with this what so ever, etc etc until the thread inevitably falls off the face of the Earth. For 11 pages you've tried (with varying degrees of success) to get people to bag on me here and yet it keeps coming back around to the original point that there's a problem with /r/ffxiv.
Sure there's problems with the subreddit. But nowhere near to the extent that they should be remotely capable of fueling the tirade that happened about it. It's almost all insults and no substance whatsoever. So yeah, it's gonna get laughed at.
You need to check your thin privilege before you spout off about not endorsing body shaming nika, it's real easy for you to say that with no personal investment just for the internet brownie points
Try understanding what it's like to be a large woman of color before you idly interject your flavor of the month armchair feminism into a podcast
I love this thread
I also love that Nina says she has a real life, then she keeps answering here
I'll be a better girl than Nika once I undergo my sex change, then Aniero and I will meet and Youmacon and toss salads in the family restroom. Thank you LBR for the memories.
