Creating a Media Server

To test locking down to read only, just create a second account and share your library with that account. You'll notice for example that in the primary account you have the option to download a video file, but that option is not available to the shared account. Any server settings will also not be available. I've shared my library with a couple friends, as well as having their libraries shared with me, and we can't mess with each others stuff.

Thank you. I will try that today. Right now I am trying to make the server accessible across multiple vlans/subnets
Later today we are going to try to run a stress test to see how many people we can connect at the same time and stream the same video.

Anyone ever use Wowza streaming server? That is one that I just found that is similar but offers more granular control as it is designed for commercial uses.

All this info has definitely filled in some blanks spots in my creative head that my Synology just wasn't able to fill. Been using a Synology NAS in conjunction with Openelec for a while now but Plex definitely seems the way to go.
