Honestly, he should be fired. And the kids who said, "I wouldn't feel safe" need slapped upside the head. They need to be challenged-- but he wasn't challenging anyone or anything. He was attacking, and insulting. But university shouldn't be a place where your ideas and your ideologies are safe, nor your lifestyle. People need to learn the difference between an attack on your actions or your statements, and an attack on yourself. He was not just attacking the idea of supporting Israel-- he was attacking people. But he was doing so verbally; if you can't stand up to that and just ignore it-- I mean, it's not like you're required to take a class with any particular professor, ever-- then you really need to examine your expectations of reality.

I think the problem is he's been only sending a job resume without a cover letter or is using a generic cover letter. Would explain his, "three people have altered it," comment. That shit should have changed 500 times if he applied to 500 jobs.

Yeah this is my thought too. Every resume should have a spec. Cover letter and be tailored to the job.

I'm not writing specific cover letters...I have a basic skeleton that I tweak a bit depending on what the job is and if its located out of Calgary.

It took me like 30 minutes to write up that 3 paragraph skeleton. To the best of my knowledge, a cover letter is nothing more than a brief rundown of yourself, and sucking the dick of the company you're applying to work at. I am incredibly bad at that second part.

Personal anecdote: I had a hard time getting a teaching job (as many know). My cover letter was reviewed by tons of people. I followed the same format everyone was saying I should (intro w/ praise of school you are applying to, talk about how you helped a student, conclusion with contact info). This is what my graduate teachers, classmates, internet, etc. All said to do. I could not get calls. At all. Got maybe one interview in the first three years of searching.

I snapped one day and said, "Fuck it." Changed it to be about how I love to make costumes and would love to help out the theater teacher. I started getting tons of interviews. That's how I got hired at the private school, and I ended up doing costumes for their musical. My resume hadn't changed, by my letter did and was unique.

I've been contemplating looking at an employment agency to find me some temp job(s) in the field, but the problem is that the income can be incredibly sporadic, I cant afford to have a 2 month contract, then potentially sit on my ass for 4-5 months without any income.

You have to apply for unemployment, and even then it takes like 2 months for it to come in (if you get it)...and I dont know if you can get unemployment if you're looking for work at a temp agency.
