Should point out she on multiple occasions specified psychiatrist not therapist or psychologists. While similar these terms are not interchangeable. Specifically psychiatrists are medical doctors the others are not. Psychiatrists are there to determine how much of it is physical and to treat those portions medically and generally refer patients to psychologists for the purely mental health problems. So while the fanciful description of what happened might be considered wrong for someone who is there to give therapy it's not really crazy for someone whose job is to evaluate if this is all in your head and possibly give you pills
While it's quite possible she's just being loose with terminology and not knowing the difference she also refers to her as doctor and finding a new doctor which is something you generally wouldn't with a non MD profession if you actually see them. While not true of all I've seen a few therapists (hell even lived with one) that don't really like being called doctor... unless they actually have a doctorate as well. And would definitely correct you

tl;dr. Yoga industrial complex (yes she really coins that term) is racist, body shaming, cultural appropriation, heteronormative, sexist, classist and I think ableist was thrown in there too... as explained by a young, skinny white woman working on her PHD at UC Davis
There's a hashtag in the abstract.
I can't listen to anyone who uses hashtags in an abstract.
Holy shit. Is she just cramming every SJW buzzword into that paper she can think of?
when you're on escholarship perusing some UC Davis student's dissertation it seems you gentlemen are really going out of your way to find things by which to be offended
Actually I started on some stupid articles (Believe I started on forbes with something being critical of it) that eventually wound my way there. Used it because I like papers over articles like Why Your Yoga Class Is So White
"But often, yoga is a privilege of the upper class. An average one-hour yoga class in Los Angeles costs $17. Most require students to bring their own equipment. A mat costs around $20; lululemon yoga pants, $82."
and a pair of sweatpants at Goodwill costs like $1 but works just fine for yoga, what's your point ho
I'm not sure if this would work for everyone, but my community college offers sun style tail chi and yoga classes for 1 unit, or 52 bucks a semester. Granted it's once a week, but the class lasts almost 4 hours. The instructor is also very ,very skilled...to the point she travels across the US to teach as a guest. We get her almost every week, or at least her hand picked underlings haha.
Of course not everyone has a community college nearby with those classes, but it is an option for some I didn't know about til I went there
But if she doesn't like it he might end up having to give himself a self high-five.
Y'know what's cheaper than all that shit and not racist/orwhateverhtefuck. Youtubing yoga poses and doing the shit in your own home. But then you'd be doing the workout to workout and you couldn't socialize with all the other yuppie douchebags after. Freaking upper class white privilege bullshit. Clearly
I'm so confused. What are they upset about?
Cultural appropriation... I think.
Clearly it should just be free for all yoga.
Oh.

Best way to show 'em is to eat your own, amirite?College Students Heckle “Boys Don’t Cry” Director, Accuse Her Of Transphobia, Profiteering
Students at Oregon’s Reed College heckled lesbian filmmaker Kimberly Peirce during a recent screening of her seminal 1999 biopic em>Boys Don’t Cry.
Carrying posters that read “Fuck your transphobia” and “You don’t fucking get it” among other things,” the student protestors were angry Peirce had cast cisgender actress Hilary Swank, who won the Oscar for her performance, instead of a trans man.
Other were bothered by what they saw as the glorification of rape and violence against trans bodies, and a cis filmmaker “profiting” off the death of a transgender person.
