Boy George drags up anti-bisexuality stigma in tweet

While the tweet may have been a tad tactless I fail to see how they drew the conclusion he was saying bisexuality completely doesn't exist

Because, as someone who is married to one can tell you, they're almost universally disliked for the same reasons that people rip on gay people. Some of the same people that jump down peoples' throats for saying that being gay is a choice, classify bisexuals as someone who hasn't chosen whether they want to be straight or gay. The Boy George tweet is straight out saying that someone saying they're about as honest as someone who handed their Twitter password over to someone claiming to be IT or Trump trying to cover up that he snorted drugs during his debates. I'm actually not sure what to make about his followup that he was not talking about actual bisexual people despite seemingly calling them out as liars.

Bisexuals live in this weird limbo where the moment they enter a relationship there's people ready to assume that they were really just another college girl going through a lesbian phase, or a lesbian who wasn't ready to come out of the closet fully. For guys, it's usually branded as someone who just isn't ready to come out of the closet, since there's really no notion, as far as I know, of guys "Just trying to be a gay guy" for a bit.

As someone who sexually identifies as a college girl going through a lesbian phase I am offended by this generalization.

eh his comparisons were of things that are often seen as but not always untrue things people say and even when untrue not necessarily lies. Hence his follow up. Like some people really do get hacked (and in fact accounts are hacked all the time), but some just blundered in some fashion or think someone getting into their computer that isn't password protected or accounts with stupid passwords like their name is hacking or just jump to conclusions. I can understand why the bi climate might make it easy to get your dander up but he gave very non absolute examples. At best you could say he was trying to imply a majority are false

I figured it was because bisexuality is complicated. Some like both, some are gay and feel pressured to do it with women, some are attracted to one physically and the other emotionally, etc. I took it as saying your bisexual is kind of a blanket term... you may or may not quite fit the definition.

I'd imagine the stigma about bisexuality revolves around monogomy. How can you be bisexual if you're in a committed relationship with a person who is of one sex? That would make you completely straight or homosexual, depending on your flavor. Saying you're labeled bisexual while in a relationship, it comes off as you're actively attracted to or seeking someone of the opposite sex as who you're seeing now; that comes off as "confused/unsure". If you're married to a bisexual, does that mean you guys are in an open relationship? If not, are they still bisexual?

Now, I know this isn't actually the case. But at a quick glance, with no one around to call you out on your biphobia, it's easy to see how even for homosexuals, bisexuality comes off as particularly promiscuous. And no one likes promiscuous people unless they're the ones slaying said person in the motel on the other side of town.

She's monogamous by choice, but it's known that it's on the table that if she's really hot for a girl and opportunity presents itself, I won't hold it against her. It's the same comparison that I made in my last post. Just because she's in a straight relationship, doesn't mean she won't stop feeling attracted to women. So, overall I do still believe that bisexual people are still bisexual even when in monogamous relationships.

I'm straight, but the same caveat would apply to me if I was bisexual also.

I do agree with your point that a lot of the thing with bisexual people lies in the monogamy concept and promiscuity vibe it has. It's why I generally support polyamorous relationships despite not being in one myself.

It's a labeling/definition problem for sure, but it's always a labeling problem when it comes to this topic. It also boils down to people looking down on even perceived promiscuity, even if the parties involved are all consenting.

Tldr: too many people are nosey and like to point fingers when they should just stfu and try to be as happy as the man married to a bi woman who occasionally gets extra sexy time with the wife.

The part that of that assumption of promiscuity falls apart for me is it basically implies just being attracted to other people makes you promiscuous and that we live in some fantasy world where everyone in a monogamous relationship stops being attracted to anyone else. Sure that's true of some but far from all. That or your sexuality is purely define as who you are currently banging which is flatly wrong

It seems like more of the same where media outlets will report on it like anybody gives a shit and just keep hammering it down till they can get enough normal people to bring it up. I still don't think ADL shit did anything except make media report on every usage of Pepe on the internet.

All I'm saying is ADL's classification didn't do anything meaningful. You would have to delete both Reddit and 4chan to get rid of Pepe and that isn't happening any time soon. If they're the ocean of piss then ADL is trying to dilute it with a couple buckets of water while taking selfies of themselves doing it, to prove they're humanitarians, and in the background there's just a bunch of memers lining up with full bladders. They (ADL and the media reporting on it) are just discrediting themselves in the most embarrassing ways.

Then bookmark this post and in the future reply with I told you so if nobody uses Pepe anymore because "ADL said its racist." Overuse kills memes, not the label, and for some calling it racist gives it just the edge it needs to stay fresh even longer. We've been through this bubble thing before and I know we didn't forget already. Just because you read about how OUTRAGED everyone is on CNN/Salon/HuffPo/whatever doesn't make it true either.
