also, protesting in a library where your audience is primarily presumably liberal college students who are fairly likely to be on your side already... I'm not sure how that's supposed to work? must be missing some relevant background info.

They are interpreting more disruption as a more effective protest. They are completely oblivious to the fact that pissing people off doesn't help, just like they are oblivious to the notion that college is an intellectual space first and foremost.

The thing is that this isn't new; you had protests about these issues at campuses before. But the extremity of the demands, and the methods of protest, have gotten increasingly irrational due to the softness of this generation of students even just compared to four years ago.

It's this borderless safe space mentality that's new. Even at supposedly reasonable protests, like one that apparently happened at my campus' library last week, students prioritize "standing in solidarity" with all other students at other campuses. The default assumption is that anyone who supposes to have grievances is entitled to complete accommodation.

If you guys like what he said (I listened to him when he was local here in Seattle), he's usually on point, though he also is given to trying to Limbaughize and go way over board. But, listen to Michael Medved. One of the problems I often have is that the right-wingers tend to only get attention for the bizarre stuff they say, but when they ARE on point, no one listens. Are Republicans (especially talking head Republicans) right all the time? No. Are you going to agree with them all the time? No.

But Shapiro, and to a much greater extent, Medved are VERY good at not only defending their positions, but even changing their minds when presented with strong arguments or evidence. The reason I listened to both is their willingness to change their positions (Medved, for example, had been very involved in Bobby Kennedy's campaign, and was strongly Democrat for a very long time). Like I said-- you're not going to agree with them all the time, but you might be surprised at how often you do.

I come to BG, because it's a far more rational place than most media is ever going to be, and I can hear, with great enthusiasm and vigor and effectiveness, what the left thinks and believes. It humanizes y'all, and it makes it easier to want to work with you.

I very much liked his stuff about SJW topics. I think the left who support some of the safe space / microaggression shit are downright abhorrent. The MINUTE that he moved off that topic though he totally lost me. I stuck it out another 30 and it was just cringe-worthy. Blahblah pro-Israel, blahblah-anti-LBGT, etc. No interest in the rest of his opinions.
