Interview with the chick that got pepper sprayed at Berkley
Because these riots are organized by the dnc, and therefore MAGA? I'm not in disagreement that these riots are dumb as shit. I'm saying that just cause the 30% of those rioters that do vote, vote D, does not mean that what was supposed to be happening shouldn't be happening.
I'm taking notes, I'll be sure to thank you once that data and fact-based "when they go low, we go high" strategy works to my advantage.
Self-policing and organization are essential parts of effective protesting, and in that, the left has hugely failed. The DNC should be aware of their image being tied to these protests (fairly or not), and should be pushing hard to take some semblance of control. The fact that they are not, and haven't for decades, does speak to their capacity to control the narrative. I acknowledge that most of the true hooligans aren't part of the organized protests, that they are coming in to cause problems and create chaos.
You need to grasp this: Hilldog may have lost, but optics matter. It doesn't matter whether the DNC *should* be associated with these protests, or whether the protests *should* be emotionally and associatively linked with violence. The reality is that they *will* be, because that's an easy, simple message to digest for the casual political observer or sound-bites-only. A huge part of why King's Civil Rights protests worked, were because they self-policed so incredibly well and thoroughly, and to a phenomenal extent, prevented violence from happening by stopping it from within their own supporters/pseudo-supporters before it could escalate. They removed, on their own and deliberately, every plausible condemnation from the uninvolved.
And don't get me wrong: It's good to be angry about Trump. It's good to not let him get away with everything (or most of what) he's doing without objecting. But it requires the self-awareness to know that the violent elements will try to shift just anger into chaotic outbursts, and to know that you need to not only condemn it afterward, but prevent it in real time. It's hard, and it takes more leadership than I think the left really has now at the ground level. Passion is good, anger is good, but they need channeled productively.
When the left starts broadly going high as their standard strategy, I'll start buying into it not working. Hillary was higher than Trump, but leftist perception for a long while hasn't been of going-high, but of judgment, intolerance, and self-righteousness. I get that, as mostly leftists here, your perception is putting those vices on the right (sometimes exclusively on the right), but there is a very broad perception that these are increasingly far-left attributes, and even moderate-left. Perhaps some degree of the left can claim a high-road, but the regressive left absolutely cannot.
At this point I'm expecting people to start wearing brown shirts unironically with several hipsters wearing black.
Literally the largest organized protest in US history just happened 2 weeks ago without a single arrest or any violence in any of the dozens of cities where the protests occurred, and we're chastising the left for violence and a lack of self policing?
This is just gonna turn into a fucking repeat from the Trump thread a few days ago, but recent history has shown one side of the political spectrum in the US far, far more likely to break out into riots.
Is it the part of the spectrum that makes up a majority of the country and a minority of the government.
can you guys please not talk about blacks like that
but you can destroy every bank and starbucks in downtown berkley
But wait
Is it the part of the spectrum young enough to engage in rioting?
No matter how many huge peaceful protests occur people will always cherry pick the ones they want so they can blow them up and act like all the other ones don't exist. It's like the "why don't these people ever protest black on black crime" garbage.
I absolutely love that the anti trump stream has become /fit/

I've seen homophobes do some seriously gay shit. #navythings.
The preferred saying is "It's not gay if it's underway." Also accepted is "It's only queer if you're at the pier."
If you go to 11:18, the whole group is chanting "BUILD THE WALL"...much lulz
