I'm half white, but I'm dark enough that no one would know it looking at me. I don't get white privilege despite my Norwegian and German heritage because my skin isn't white and my name isn't John.

If people walk down the street and they see someone with dark skin and nappy black hair, won't they treat her like a black woman? Of course, since this phenotype is artificially induced, one could say she always has the option of "becoming white again" while natural PoC don't. No matter what hardships she endures in her black state, she will always have an escape route. It undermines the experience to a significant degree.
