There's a time to talk through problems. There's a time to show things that are absolutely not acceptable in society. Nazis and people who want to do harm to other people for their skin color, religion, sexual orientation, etc are one of those instances. 1-for it to be remotely close to self defense in the fashion that you are alluding to, Shrekette would have to be a minority that this Nazi has preached ethnic cleansing on. She is white.
2-for it to be self defense, the Nazi would have to be the aggressor and provoke the altercation. He did not. Shrekette provoked the altercation by engaging him, and then provoked it further when he made an attempt to avoid any altercation and try to get staff of the gym involved to de-escalate the situation.
