My guess is targeted online and in person harassment. Yet I bet none of those SJW cunts would turn down a chipotle burrito

Wow. Whoever wrote that article didn't do much research if they think that Christina Hoff Sommers would say that unironically. I'm pretty sure from seeing her speak that she was being sarcastic there.

You can kill coworkers, kids, people at gay nightclubs, etc. As long as the body count includes you at the end, that seems to be a socially acceptable outcome in the US.

If we've already reached consensus on the above, does the "why?" actually matter?
Like suicide bombers? its ok to kill a lot of people in europe and the middle east as long as you also kill yourself. That seems to be an acceptable outcome in the world

what kind of retard logic is that

If society makes no attempt to prevent future similar incidents (ex. the US and mass shootings - but not your example of Jihadists), then it is de facto socially acceptable.

Maybe without stupid arguments- there are laws and systems in place to prevent both and neither of them are socially acceptable but they still happen so society is ok with little girls and gay dudes dying k

Claiming there is no attempt to prevent this stuff is pretty silly

There is no escalation in the attempts to prevent gun violence (i.e. gun control). Comparatively there is constant escalation in the fight against Islamic terrorism (see any restriction targeting Muslims in general)

Another parallel to look at is that ardent opponents of gun control say that gun rights are too important to sacrifice even if it means allowing some of these shootings that could be prevented to happen. Those unwilling to tolerate religious and racial profiling are basically saying the same thing only with non-discriminatory government policy for gun rights and suicide bombings for shootings.

Example: Newtown School shooting in CT

Kid with a history of mental illness has access to a fairly large number of guns and ammunition. Goes into an elementary school and kills a bunch of little kids and teachers. People say that we should pass laws to prevent those with mental illness from having access to guns, or at least be able to screen people for it.

The public reacts by rejecting the calls for more screening on people looking to buy guns, start spreading "Obama is coming for your guns" because they want to limit high capacity magazines and assault weapons, and nobody wanted to touch the mental illness stuff.

The result was two bills going to the House and Senate that both failed to pass. CT and NY got things through on the state level, but fought them in appeals courts from the NRA and other similar groups.

The laws in place that tell you what will happen should you kill someone, own an unregistered or illegal firearm, etc. are there, but they aren't preventing these things from happening. In order to prevent these things from happening, you need to have the means. The problem is that we aren't passing anything that will give more power to the governing agencies to try to keep people that are a larger risk for violent outbursts or have violent tendencies from getting these things. In addition, the funding for trying to help these people treat/cope with some of their mental issues is not coming through either. We're stuck in a place where we can't keep people from getting firearms and we can;t treat the people that need help.

This is the entire basis for the "If you make guns illegal, then only criminals will have them" logic.

As far as the mental illness side of things is concerned, it's going to be a massive cultural shift to change attitudes toward people with minor, but benign mental problems. With laws on the federal scale a lot of nuance can be lost and, in the case of gun rights, it could cause people to completely hide any problems they're having for fear that they're suddenly going to be denied second amendment rights on a legal level. Meanwhile it does nothing to prevent people on the Newtown shooter persuasion, who are going to just use illegally obtained guns to pull off what they're doing anyway.

let us not say public but rather a very impassioned single-issue minority with disproportionate congressional impact, the last polling i remember something like 85-90% of the public supported expanded background checks, a ban on felons and the mentally ill purchasing guns, and a likewise ban for anyone on a federal watchlist.

That's fair. Maybe it's the guys I work with, but a lot of them were talking about how they were going out and buying stockpiles of ammo because their guns and ammo were going to be too hard to get now, along with the "Obama's coming for my guns" BS.

It's a stupid fucking argument and you are a petty person for making it.

This seems relevant to most of the people who post in this thread so... Today at work we got this beauty from our supervisor (a Warrant Officer) to one of the junior enlisted.

"Your cuckery is off the charts right now. When you go home to see your wife do you have to wait in line?"

Just in case you're wondering, yes said Warrant Officer is a very vocal Trump supporter.

I think we need more context. Was the other guy a cuck? Also was his wife hot? Are warrant officers even really real?

And at the same time even implementing all these "common sense gun control measures" that are widely supported would only have a small effect on overall shootings. As long as the 2nd amendment is interpreted in the way that it has been (individual right to own handguns for self defense), there's not much we can do legislatively that would make a large difference. It's a shame that we don't do the things that could make a small difference, but yeah.
