You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

For sure it doesn't apply to this convo per se. It's mostly a vicious cycle, at some point black people were treated by the media as ugly (ie. Tom and Jerry), which helped to enforce the idea that black people are ugly and therefore don't sell produces as well as white people. So the cycle continued of, white people sell so we use white people which makes white people more attractive which makes white people sell better so we higher white people. rinse repeat. Basically before it was racism, now it's about the money, but the side effect is still not helping black people attractiveness.

Now that there is a demand for more black people in media, again, you'll find that "magically" future generations of black people are going to be more attractive.

personally don't find guys with curly hair attractive myself. not a fan of body hair in general really <.< other things that turn me off a bit are thick pouty lips (i guess i'm weird for not liking "kissable" lips) and guys with a musky smell.

which does exclude a lot of african men, but also excludes some blond ones too so yeah. i could try and debate all day why such things turn me off, but why bother? it doesn't matter, everyone's tastes are different and it's not like i'm obliged or should be ashamed of what i'm attracted to. if i was i'd still be in the damn closet. heck, even guys who are too lean and leggy turn me off, i'd actually prefer a slightly chubby guy to a thin one.

it's not like physical traits are all i think about either that makes a guy attractive. do they smoke or drink? negative points for me. do they talk gangsta? (oh man, this one co-worker i had was pretty attractive but was always saying bro every sentence and it drove me up the wall, i kept wanting to smack his head till he started talking properly.) do they have a sense of humor and laugh a lot, with a relaxing personality? if so that's mega bonus points with me. even a face that's expressive, even if it's not classically handsome, is something i like a lot.

some things weigh more than others, but it's not based on race - it's just some races trend toward certain features more than others.

Admittedly, I still don't know what you are trying to say after the edit.
Sorry was at work and posting too fast. Basically that for a population yeah it's easily observable to have some effect but that you can't say for every individual that is the or a reason behind their preferences. Also not completely sure I got this completely right now either as I've been drinking but I think that's about what I meant not all societal influences are currently rooted in racism

I like this idea. But in the interest of truly stopping racism I think I should get one of every race/mix. Just to make sure

Here's a legit question: Do people believe that 100% of gay people secretly knew they were gay when it was full on a bad idea to be gay in the US? Do you believe a 100% of gay people know they are gay today (minus those too young to have hit puberty that is)? Do you think there is zero connection to sexual attraction and social stigma in both the past and present? I am not referring to what they are open about btw, but what they know inside.

I am sure the percentages are much different today than they were 100 years ago. I am also sure neither one is at 100%.

im pretty sure they know, they just deny the truth in themselves for some. of course, denying part of who you are leads to all sorts of bad things: depression, suicidal thoughts, homophobia, violence... that doesn't mean they don't know, they just pretend they don't really really hard.

of course, there's a bigger % of openly gay people now because the stigma is less. but i hit puberty at a time when gays being dragged behind a truck still made the news occasionally, as a deeply conservative christian in a family of the same. as soon as i hit puberty bam, there was no denying what i was, i knew....but i also tried to deny that part of me for years. it nearly killed me too.

in all that time i tried to deny what i was there was no lessening of my sexual attraction to men. there was simply the attraction plus a self loathing for being attracted. as far as sexual attraction and social stigma, im not so sure about that. i suspect such attractions are partly biological (people with different immune systems tend to smell more attractive to others), but a lot of it i think is simply personal experiences. i suspect part of the reason i hate curly hair so much is because my own hair was curly as a kid, to the point i broke a comb trying to unsnarl it. i suspect that bad experience partly influenced my hatred for it. :D but that's a personal stigma, not a social one.

Oh, I'll go ahead and say both are 100%. Repression is a real and powerful thing, but on some level, of course they're aware of their desires -- one can't not be aware of what tickles their pickle. It's physical. (This is, of course, not to say that one's sexuality isn't malleable or fluid over time.)

And I'll also say that puberty has nothing to do with it and isn't the age, in my experience, that one becomes aware of their sexuality. Certainly, your thought process doesn't start to become sexualized until puberty and its hormonal effects, but I was personally aware of my sexuality as early as 4-5. As early as I have vivid memories. I didn't know what it was, but there was a fascination/magnetism towards other boys. Most people I talk to experienced similar feelings.

It's one of many reasons I think the nurture argument for sexuality is complete nonsense.

I go away for 3 hours and no one else has rated any races. BG is more disappointing everyday.

I mean.. every race got a 10 except maybe aboriginals. I'd be more interested in people posting what they think is a 10 of every race but I have already been disgusted enough by ksan's choices I don't think I could handle any more terrible opinions on aesthetic beauty.

    This racism is systematic
    It's emblematic
    It's problematic
    Why it's greased lightning!

After a night of (not much)sleep I wanted to add a few things to clarify.
First that I think the other side came from a strongly american-centric perspective, which I'm sorry but doesn't reflect on the whole world - or even on the whole "west".
Here where I live for example, the southern part of Italy, it's a magical place with a strongly homophobic culture but one of the most welcoming places on Earth for people of different race(even our folk songs in our original language talk about how awesome race mingling is), I even live on the coast where this sentiment is reinforced and taught since a young age.

I also can recognize I'm not racist against black people not because "oh my god, not me!" on the contrary: I am racist towards a different ethnic group, and understand the difference.
I know not many like to say it but having a prejudice towards something or someone is not all that strange, it's common and can have a number of reasons(bad personal experiences, you were raised in a certain manner, and sure systemic racism). The important thing is to be able to recognize that you have a bias towards that thing and thus be able to not let it rule your decision making retaining an attitude of compassion that every human deserves. Because a prejudice is a problem that belongs to the one who feels it.

I don't hold my purse tighter near a black person, nor I assume anything of their background(I do with the above mentioned ethnic group).

There's just some things I want to put my tongue on, and some I don't. And that shouldn't offend anyone.

    Latin: Y'all know
Asian: 3-8 depending on the island/continent

    Everyone else post yours.

    EDIT:

have at it panda. I have tried.
    Here's mine
    Whites: 1-10
    Blacks: 1-10
    Latinos: 1-10
    Asians: 1-10

Real talk though, I think another reason whites are "hotter" is because there's more of em around therefore the average amount of visually appealing white people is going to be greater than the other races. As far as the US is concerned
