If you want to work at company x, you have to follow company x's dress code.
If a company doesn't hire anyone with dreadlocks, that means any person no matter their race wouldn't get hired if they have them. If a lot of African Americans have dreads and they are finding that it's a problem finding work with them, they do have a choice to either stop styling their hair that way, or look elsewhere for work.

I fail to see how this is a racism issue.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I believe this is not the case. The issue is not that a company has a policy of "no dreads", it's that if a black person goes into an interview with dreads, they are less likely to get hired than a white person going into an interview with dreads.

Because it's almost a necessity for some hair.

I would find that hard to believe and even harder to prove.
If an individual is not hired because of their hair style but someone else is, I would think it more came down to their qualifications and experience than their hair style.

    Maybe I'm just too naive.

I'm no hair stylist, but I would think there are ways of dealing with that specific type of hair that would allow one to style it. Then, it comes down to choice/effort/cost versus benefits gained doesn't it?

Or it could be that Company X put a "no dreadlocks" policy into place because they know many African Americans have that hairstyle.

I question the validity of a dresscode outside of pr jobs. But society gonna society I guess.

Black people just need to follow this white pioneer's guide to dreads:

Which I'm more than willing to believe is a possibility but it'd be very hard to prove.
Are dreads/braids so important to the African American identity that they wouldn't be willing to do something else if it prevented them from putting food on the table for their family? I mean, I can see the whole not wanting to give in, I'm a stubborn mother fucker that will almost not do something because someone demanded me to do it, but I'd sit down and really think about it if it kept my family in my house.

Are we talking about gross ass dreads or well-kept dreads? Most white people can't pull off dreads. And saying dreads are a necessity for some hair is beyond dramatic lol ...come on... it's hair. It will grow back and you can change it up according to the needs of the situation. Blahblahblah it shouldn't be like that and people in hell want ice water.

That's like people who say they get horrible customer service everywhere they go. Maybe. Just maybe. The business didn't give bad customer service. Maybe. Just maybe. It's you.

    Let's be realistic, please.

For me, if I don't want to deal with my hair, I can comb it and throw it into a bun within minutes.

For many of them, their hair is hard to maintain, and you are basically saying they should be forced to spend a ton of money to maintain it. Studies have shown that it's hard to get a job with natural black hair:

    http://www.teenvogue.com/story/black...discrimination

So yes they encouraged to straighten their hair to look more like white people hair. Natural black hair for some types are going to want to dread, and they can spend forever trying to comb it all out. And some go get braided for the look, and they don't have to deal with the constant maintenance otherwise. Braiding btw, is often a whole day affair.

If it took me forever to comb my hair every single morning, you bet I would want an alternative.

I would strongly recommend reading through some experiences. Here's one:

    http://thoughtcatalog.com/kovie-biak...r-told-anyone/

    Read this one for example:

    4. “There’s no such thing as “wake up and go.” Whether I wear my hair naturally, curly, or straightened via flatiron, making it presentable is a process. When it’s curly, it gets dry very quickly and goes flat after a day or two. I have to re-wet, moisturize, comb, and brush almost every day to keep the curls looking healthy and full. When it’s straight, I have to touch up my hair with a flatiron even to wear it in a ponytail. That’s not to mention the process of straightening it in the first place, which is nearly two hours of washing, blow-drying and straightening.
Two fucking hours everyday to straighten their hair. I can do that shit (wash, blow-dry, straighten) in about 40 min. And I don't have to do it every day. Only when I feel like it. You claim they should have to.

    White people hair types: No.

Many black people hair types: Yes. Or they have to spend hours every morning getting it ok.

And yeah I do think most white people can't pull off dreads, but I can see why black people would be frustrated if that it means they can't wear them.

I seriously doubt that. White people look the absolute worse in dreads. Ugg seriously stop it. Not that anyone looks good in them

Naw that's what short hair is for. It's like 90% of the reason I keep my shit short because it's curls up so much it would look terrible without hours of work. It curls up so thick I've swam across a pool and scalp still dry. Hell some places don't let you keep hair long enough to do that shit anyways lol
