Looks like a woman is replacing Jackson on the $20.
obviously the best possible outcome. Hamilton was the most significant financial figure in our nation's history while Jackson didn't even believe in the concepts of central banking or fiat currency
Jackson wasn't really even that well-liked, was he? I don't see the issue removing him as I've never been able to understand the significance over someone like Jefferson or Roosevelt.
Lady Liberty in the nude or nothing at all.
They need to make sure whatever they pick is relatively graffiti-proof.
I could see some kind of dong-related spock'ing happening to the new 20s.
he was for a time beloved as he positioned himself as a champion of the common man, railing against the predatory and exploitative nature of big finance with virulent demagoguery (a familiar tale no). moreover it is often forgotten the Union was in more or less constant risk of disintegration during our first century of existence and the greatest internal threat between independence and the Civil War came under Jackson during the Nullification Crisis where South Carolina stood in armed defiance of the central government (another familiar tale), and his handling of that crisis established him in the historical record as something of a lesser Abraham Lincoln for holding the Union together.
but, given his embrace of slavery and his inclination to murder Indians his stock has plummeted in the modern age as political correctness now prevents us from holding other people in perpetual bondage because farming is hard or murdering exogenous ethnic groups because we desire their land
Damn SJWs.
Yea, that seems like a raw deal tbh.
Yeah, the Trail of Tears was a picnic.
Anyway, the bills won't be issued til 2030 at the earliest so we have at least 14 years of Jackson left.
We should just go ahead and put Hillary on the $20 though, it's inevitable.
I feel like the guy's point could be made better if he stayed away from objective, quantitative things like age and height. The rest of his questions are pretty legitimate, but those make the video fall down into "you just think trans people are crazy" territory. It's a tough issue, though. The science isn't very concrete, and rationality goes out the window almost immediately because people are basing their entire lives on this belief. If we could find evidence and demonstrate to transgendered people that they're delusional in the same way that bulimics are, it'd be just as crushing to them as demonstrating to highly religious people that their religion is absolutely false. These people are building communities and lives around their identity. I will say for sure that if they are wrong, we're doing more harm than good by allowing them to build up their conviction so high. The fall will destroy them.
It also would've been better if someone called him out on his bullshit on the objective, quantitative things, too. I wouldn't be surprised if maybe some did and they got edited out because it didn't serve his point. It kind of looked like one of the girls slightly did, from the "I can be a chinese woman, but not a 6'5" chinese woman" comment.
I try to base my personal philosophy on possibility. If a different sperm had made it to the egg first, there's a very realistic chance you could've been born a different gender. If you really believe that was what should have happened, do what you want. Unless you were conceived in an interracial gangbang, though, there was never any chance of you being born a different race. That being said, if you think that race's culture is better, feel free to assimilate yourself.
what was the problem with the objective/quantitative (height/age) things? Is it because it's difficult to tell whether someone is a man or woman, czech or chinese, but easy to tell if they're 6'5 or 5'9, 9 years old or 35 years old?
The problem is that sex is objective, gender is (arguably) subjective. You can physically appear male, but have the personality/demeanor of a female. Likewise, race and culture share a similar relationship; you could be African and act Chinese. Generally people link the visible objective one with their expectations on the subjective one, because 99% of the time it's true. There's no such expectation for height. There's arguably one for age, but I think it's more of a "you can be forgiven for acting like an asshole if you're very young or very old because people perceive your brain as being underdeveloped or deteriorating, respectively" buffer allowance than a true expectation.
