Actually sat down and watched the whole talk. Despite what I expected from the first 10 minutes, it was surprisingly fair-minded. Crowder was funny but it would've been better without him. He definitely lowered the level of discourse expected overall; "look at how offensive I'm being" jokes, genuine hatred of Islam, claiming there's no such thing as hate speech, and bringing up Hitler for some reason. Yianniannibobannyphiphiphophanny was pretty reasonable outside of the "the right doesn't have any racists and never interrupts opposing views" stuff. Hoff Sommer was the true star of the show. Didn't participate in any of the shock value shennanigans and gave real answers with factual bases.

To be fair to Crowder, one of the Muslims he had on his show was Anjem Choudary. Anyone would have reasonable grounds to dislike Islam after spending some time talking with that guy.

Man, if anyone on this forum still wasn't convinced that SJWs are a cancer in our society, this ought to do it. Due to assumed SJW pressure (because what else would be), the good faith effort to get a female panelist in a legends of video game development panel wasn't considered good enough, and the panel was cancelled FOUR HOURS before it was set to start. The female panelist who had been scheduled had to back out due to a scheduling conflict. The university straight up said they were cancelling it because they "regretted" having an all-male panel. This is the kind of shit that makes me violently angry.

I can see an argument for the forced desegregation of industrial jobs (like the video game industry) in the interest of equality, but I can't see a compelling argument for the forced desegregation of the customer base for a given industry. You can also make an argument that we need to do the same for video game reviews because companies are attempting to target women with games now, but I can't see doing it for anything that's less than a paying job.

Video games have been singled out because they have such a heavily male dominated customer base enjoying products produced by really heavily male dominated companies. Although society only really should have a problem with the potential for gender-based employment discrimination, socially retarded video game loving neckbeards have painted targets on their own backs by being regressive at every opportunity. Now video game enthusiasts have become a group that people think is in need of reform and they subsequently get hit with bullshit like above. The university's response is probably not entirely unjustified in the current political climate. I'm sure some fringe feminist could have shown up at the panel and gotten booed/heckled for saying something stupid, felt validated, and brewed up a shitstorm for the university / gotten gamers more bad press.

As a group, we (gamers) really need to get thicker skin and stop trying to fight the stormfront that is third wave feminism on a hill with a flagpole. Shit will blow over and reality will not have change. No point in getting struck with lightning.

Dude, seriously? Laws are being changed at the whims of these morons. The "just chill and let it blow over" attitude is the reason the movement has grown as powerful as it has. Idiocy needs ridiculed at every opportunity. When stupidity is spouted without any opposing criticisms, it gives it the perception of validity. Like Milo said in that panel, we absolutely must talk about these things, because sunlight is the best disinfectant.

You have to realize that the majority of people are not intelligent, rational, critical thinkers. They're stupid people just trying to get through the day. When stupid people get the same stupid shit pushed in their face day in, day out, without any explanations of why that shit is stupid, they will believe it.

The point isn't to cure the idiots that are infected. It's to stop their disease from spreading. Surely you understand the difference. There are always going to be idiots who believe stupid things, but letting them go around spouting nonsense unchecked lets them grow in power. Just imagine a world where a majority of university students believed that jet fuel can't melt steel beams (in an unironic non-memed sense) because nobody had the courage to tell them what fucking nonsense it was. That's the reality we live in right now. A whole shitload of people believe in the wage gap because it was repeated over, and over, and over. It was years before anyone really criticized the number. The sexual assaults on campus was also multiple years before people really started to criticize the study's methodology. The only way to stop nonsense is to talk about why it's nonsense. Just letting it happen makes the nonsense spread.

Never ending snaps from my friend showing the of the importance of "marxism" and acknowledgement of "white patriarchal entrenchment" are things that need to be implemented as mandatory things for future game designers. I disagree with Crowder on a few issues but I do give him credit for backing up his opinions and has interactive discourse. Sad state of affairs that a college dropout-turned-comedian can intelligently talk about issues on a weekly talk show better than the mountains of talking head experts on either side.

I did love me some BasedMom but that uncharacteristic Crowder rage spree was magical. But to be fair Sommers is actual academia whereas Yiannopoulos and Crowder are (mostly positive) inflammatories brought along to hook attendees and fluff out material. Two hours of Sommers dropping knowledge bombs would likely cause all the Trigglypuff's heads to explode.

I also can never unhear Crowder sounding almost exactly like Tom Hanks.

This right here. I never heard of Dave Rubin before a couple weeks ago, but when I watched a couple videos I decided to sit down and watch them all. Some of the conversations are better than others, but on average, very high quality shit.

Shit like his has been a problem in the game industry for years before gamergate and for years in various other places before then. Modern feminism and cultural marxism and pcism have been slowly but surely infecting everything for decades now just been slow and not as obvious to most
