I love that his tl;dr omits the actual reason for why she left instagram. It wasn't because she made a comment. It was because assholes decided to jump on her for making those comments.

Honestly I didn't even notice. I mean it's kind of obvious you voluntarily leave due to reactions to things you post not just cause you posted something so it's kind of assumed

she can't control what they say... but she can control how much she's hurt by their messages. She's only a little bit better than they are by deleting her account and doing the ultimate "walking away" strat vs bullying, but she could have taken the even higher road and realized what she said had nothing wrong with it and just kept on keepin on

I don't give a shit about her opinion either, which is why I don't go looking for it on fucking instagram and lose my shit when she makes an extremely benign comment.

People need to stop acting as if gun violence is only a thing here in North America. I don't see anything wrong with this actress showing empathy towards the loss of life. Was it the right place for it? Probably not. Just like the rant a few years ago by that woman from medium going on about the wage gap during an award acceptance speech.

It does wreak a bit of virtue signalling to me. I find it a little sad people would seek her out to express their disdain in her statements though. Why bother?

At its most polarizing, that post has a negative take on gun violence only by proxy, due to support of gun violence victims. Does anyone support gun violence? How is that remotely polarizing?


I lean towards whatever side supports the free, productive exchange of ideas. In this case, it's not the random trolls of Instagram.

I like that multiple people keep trying to preach this narrative that "oh my the hypocrisy, triggerers becoming triggered and whatnot" as if they had never fucking heard of the concept of trolling.
