Those "wholesome"-types are still around, and still getting pissed. They're the folks who won't let libraries have "To Kill a Mocking Bird" and the like. They just aren't all about the social media (because many of them hate it), and they tend to be rural more than suburban (which means they don't tend to have as much political influence on an executive scale, but a ton on the legislative scale). They also have a tendency to work with laws and through regulations, rather than shouting against them, so they are "part of the system" and less noticeable.

Anecdotally, the family members of mine who are part of that group are also enormously in favor of Trump-- those who aren't are the ones who were whole-hog on Cruz. Modern day examples also have a much better ability to use all the right /words/, while doing all the wrong /things/-- they're the scary ones, because they're the kind who get things in place in the system, and no one outside their group really understands where or when things got to the point they're at, and changing them is now an up-hill battle that stopping them wouldn't have been.

Well... nothing before was stopping them from being ignorant to the point of not only courting hypocrisy but bedding it like a cheap whore. Why would Trump be any different?

More, though, Trump actually does support their values-- censorship, segregation, revenge, to start a list off. I mean, not traditional Christian values-- but then, neither do most of the folks who fit in that category, either.
