5% and 8% on separate attempts
My condolences. She really is just that much of a bitch at low HP.

It's very clear SE included the full use of all the temporary items in these fights. Our main PT WHM did such a great job using his also. PLDs also had to shell out full array of silt to rebuy almost everything after attempts. The 10 minute manawall tip seems great tho. Will use that next time.

More until SE patched weapons to add +skill etc I'd dare to say
But yeah I get what you and vm0d are saying.
If that's how things will turn out to be (some form of nerfs after a few months) I'll be super fine with it, sounds pretty cool actually.

That once you have the aeonic weapons, doing the ultimate skillchain will cause these NMs to proc and be terror'd for a long time or take massive amounts of HP off them, or some other cheap thing that makes them way easier than what we are seeing now.
Either that or aeonic weapons will be as useless as they look, and SC/MB bonuses won't outweigh the pre-reqs to activate them.

The way I look at the description is that not only do you get the additional damage from having higher DMG, skills, and stats on the weapon... you also have the extra damage from the ultimate skillchain being higher than light/dark (think of the extra damage from doing double light/dark, this would be like doing triple light/dark), and you also have the extra skillchain and extra magic burst damage bonuses that are listed on the weapon. So not only are you getting the extra damage from the higher tier SC, you are also getting the extra SC/MB damage on top of that.

Who knows, maybe the level 4 SCs will have high enough multipliers on magic bursts that double magic bursting with normal nukes will outdo Death, even with elemental magic penalty..

i totally think you're correct in your reading.

however, our current meta is setups of only one: ranged, magical, melee.

if these weapons encourage more physical sc+mb (aside from just sam+blms) on higher lvl content (lower lvl stuff dies long before you get to t4 sc/mb), then they will certainly be more useful than i expect.

The only way I can see level 4 SCs being worth using in the current meta would be if they completely remove the resist wall.

I envision 12 BLM using death at the same time for 1.2M damage in 1 skillchain. 2 shot WoC anyone?

They don't actually have higher stats than reis augmented weapons thou. The extra skill only amounts to 27 atk and something like 22 acc, which is far less than you can get on a reis weapons, and only applies to one hand. For nuking jobs, the base/augmented int/mab on reis staff should outweigh the mdmg on aeonic, which again should be less accurate as well.

Ultimate skillchains would have to have a totally insane multiplier (many times the damage of level 2 light/dark) to make up for the shitty WS involved (requiescat, extenerator, etc), which clearly isn't the case going by the video they showed.

The only saving grace I could see is the possible MB bonuses for nuking setups, but will the bullshit involved with activating these aftermaths and doing ultimate skillchains be worth the effort compared to just using stronger baseline weapons and playing more conventionally? Somehow I doubt it.

Not all merit ws are crappy though and they still continue to say "appropriate" weaponskill for closing so it's still highly in the realm of possibilities of using a "shitty" ws for aftermath then closing with something awesomer

This may already be possible without theoretical Aeonic buffs.

Previously we assumed that the MB dmg reduction occurred after the damage was reduced to 99,999, but upon testing me and Mojo found that this may not actually be the case.

Normally when we'd cast Death too close to each other, we'd always see the 2nd Death do approximately 36k damage, but we weren't seeing this trend with Sarasok today, which makes us think that our base death damage just isn't high enough. Even unbursted, Death had no troubles reaching 99,999 (no BoG or Gambit), so we tried casting Death at the same time which landed almost immediately after Noctohelix, and we both did 99,999 still.

That being said, with enough buffs and debuffs, it may actually be possible to do 12x Death for 99,999 each in 1 MB on WoC, as long as it is pre-bracelets. I may give this a try soon since we have 10x Death BLM in the LS (12 pretty soon) so we can at least pull off a similar scale. I suspect that with Gambit/Rayke + Bolster Malaise/Languor we'll probably be able to do 10x Death for 100k each. With our current 10 man setups we never do less than 100k pre-bracelets and that's without gambit, rayke, or even BoG malaise as well.

This reminded me of a post Byrth made a while back about theoretical Death damage:

Boom, unresistable headshot.
Maybe we should be hoping for level 4 SCs allowing us to break the 99K damage cap instead. Even with -60%(-30% after rayke and -30% bracelets) you're still looking at 658K + 263K *(11) = 3.5M damage in one skillchain... 1 shot WoC anyone?

    information we started with:

    Spoiler: show
    http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/47...ma-nms#3003535
    Bahamut.Tychefm:

    Ironside - Iron Giant:
Insanely weak to Thunder nukes. Very easy fight.

    Sarsaok - Elasmoth:
Super weak to earth, ice, dark (use impact!) and many more elements. Very easy fight for nukers.

    Strophadia - Harpeia:
Annoying with aoe that sets all stats to 1 for a while. However steady nuke damage was able to kill it no problem at all. Used Ice.

    Gajasimha - Khimaira:
This one does not take magic damage super well. However it still is a good way to kill it compared to melees getting their TP reset all the time. It will level up when it buffs itself, so try to keep it silenced. Just use Ice and whittle it down for a win. Will do 25+ Fulmination at lower HP interrupting your Immanence skillchains. Can use Vex/Attunement/Barspells to mostly resist the status effects however.

    Bashma - Hydra:
Takes magic damage pretty well. However very annoying when it spams magic shield for 5 minutes in a row. You can force physical shield by breaking one of its heads. We almost timed out on it as 18 man. However if you go for a lowman clear a SCH can use Tabula. Make sure NOONE feeds TP after pop and stick Kaustra and Noctohelix on before it uses a Magic Shield. This will devour its HP greatly and secure a win usually.

    Old Shuck - Orthrus:
Literally the worst of the worst NM unless there is some trick to it. It will howl and then level up after. This made it almost impossible to hit after a while. It's very evasive and its melee hits have En-Flash, too. When it howls it resets hate also. After our 18 man attempts only got it to 90% each time using SAM and Mages we cut down to 6 man in order to get clears for T3 pops.

3x GEO (1Idris) SAM PLD WHM with 2x BRD prebuffs and all 2hrs used only got it to 50% in two attempts. However our SAM now upgraded his ACC gear by 100+ by today and it might be better.

Then we went back for a mage setup:

2x GEO (1Idris) BLM SCH PLD WHM with 1x BRD prebuffs and all 2hrs used was finally able to beat it. We all stood around it - PLD atthe back and nukers at the front. Brute forcing it down. Used thunder nukes to do damage. My SCH Thunder Vs were doing 3000MBd at first. After a few howls damage suddenly went up to 6000 somehow. Our PLD got taken out by a tailwipe for 2800 at some point. Actually managed to kill it inch by inch. Outside of MBs nukes were very little damage. This was before we unlocked rebuyable revitalizers for Escha, so should die better nowadays.

I think it may be possible to hit 100k with magic adjustment and bracelets up given that the following are true.

    - The magic damage adjustment is calculated pre cap (as it would seem we observed tonight)
    - The magic damage adjustment caps at -60%
    - Rayke halves the effective magic damage adjustment (so -30%)

I still wouldn't say we can be 100% certain about any of these assertions, However, if they are true, then Death would only need to deal 143k pre adjustment damage in order to always do 100k post adjustment and cap. I know this is possible on WoC. My gear is not perfect, I don't have the Snoll cheer yet, and we haven't been using Vidohunir or Soldier's Drink either yet I can still do 100k every Death. Obtaining these things will push my Death damage up to 143k for sure. Using Soldier's Drink as is would probably do it too (although, tbh, I don't even know what this item does.) The same strategy may also be applied to Teles. It might actually make the fight ludicrously easy as it can't WS while Manafont is up and, given a cheesy BLM 10x+ set up, it may be possible to kill it before Manafont even wears off.

If you're flooring the targets MDB with malaise, wouldn't vidohunir not do anything?

Soldier's Drink is damage +50% but only lasts for one damaging action.

If you're using Bolstered Idris Malaise, it's likely that the monster is already at 50 MDB (iirc highest recorded MDB amount for NMs has been +40). If you don't have Idris, though, it's likely that landing Vidohunir's additional effect would be useful.
