I seriously don't understand the motivation behind this. What is the outcome they think they will achieve that is favorable to them? France gets out of Syria? Not gonna happen. If anything, the opposite will happen. I don't understand what's going through their heads. This only ends badly for them, and makes things worse for them in general.

I understand that it's just "durka durka jihad" but I'd love to understand the logic that goes in to thinking that something like this will benefit your cause...

My guess is if they figure there's enough dead white people on the ground, Westerners will get allergic to being anywhere in the Middle East. Is it reasonable? No. But people machinegunning Paris aren't really in the realm of reason anyway. This is just "WEST GO HOME", and I figure it'll be Israel/Palestine cycles of violence all over again until someone gets a nuke and we see a city get glassed.

Seriously, though- the only reason people like these are taking hostages is an attempt to escape to kill more people later. The place is gonna get stormed, more people will be shot, and they're going to virginland to be raped up the ass for eternity. They're already dead at this point if they don't get out, and they're not getting out, so they're going to stretch it out as long as the police let it and then up the body count further.

What positive outcome could possibly come from this for the people responsible for this attack. In what world would this end in a victory for them? Will France suddenly pull out of the fight against ISIS? Not after something like this. Will French Muslims suddenly get treated better? Odds are the opposite will happen.

How do they think that this will help them in any way, shape, or form? What sort of insane do you have to be to think it will?

Short form: They think they are bringing justice to the heathens of the western world and will be going to heaven as a reward for spreading the might of Islam.
