WAR isn't perfect (though fWAR seems much better than bWAR, at least).

For batters it may be a tad better, but it is much worse when it comes to pitching. Even some of the guys over at Fangraphs and other SABER guys have said that pitcher fWAR is very flawed and needs to be reevaluated.

A lot of people were talking about how the cubs didn't want 60+mil a year tied to two pitchers long term, and would prefer to go with a lower level pitcher to slot behind Lester and Arieta.
