This one kind of alienated a complete half of the US imo. Both schools being in the southeast vs. last year being a more east v. west.

not much, i think it went from a 15.8 to a 16 comparing the megacast.

part of it was because of the regional thing and sadly CFB is still heavily regional, and some people think part of it is because folks hate Bama/the SEC, but man.

I would watch college football more if players didn't have off games because they were worried about whether the girl from last night was going to press charges.

It had felt like the bowl season had been over for a week; I had to remind myself it was on. The semifinals being uninspiring, plus on at such a shitty time, didn't exactly build much buzz. The regional aspect didn't help much either, and the timing the day after the wild card games seems questionable. All anyone was talking about on sports talk radio was Vontaze Burfict and Blair Walsh. I'm sure it was different in the deep south, but out here, most people didn't even seem aware of it.

Admittedly, some of that is because of the obvious contrast to last year when Oregon was in the game, but even compared to years prior to last, this game didn't feel like an event. The whole bowl season was largely a let-down in a lot of ways. Although last night's game was admittedly great, and I'm glad I tuned in for the 4th quarter, it still wasn't appointment viewing for me the way it has been in years' past.
