given how ridiculously weapon damage scales vs. any other stat though, when would you want a relic with +acc over a weapon with higher damage?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm actually asking. just to clarify.

You wouldn't, the only real benefit is the fact that accuracy melds are usually more expensive and it lets you cut out a lot of those if you're poor. Your "BIS" (well, until the very end of the tier when relic actually will have the highest DMG) is always going to have a non-relic weapon which means you're always going to want accuracy melded in the rest of your gear rather than the weapon too. Accuracy relics are just bad tbh.

That said, you don't need more acc for Creator compared to Midas.

I would also say the usefulness of the weapon goes about as far as you want. Right now the current cap for it is i260 and the last two steps are Lore grind. If you're close to finishing the i240 I'd knock it out. But I wouldn't specifically grind for an i240+ anima weapon knowing that Sophia weapons are far easier to come across and we got another primal literally waiting to be grinded upon for at least an i260 weapon.

So the anima weapon is going to cap out at what eventually? Or is the quest over already? I'm on the stats stage right now. This is a case of "I don't really raid but just in case I want to, I want to have enough acc". So unlikely that I will have anything but a scripture or primal weapon. I can get a sophia weapon pretty soon (and probably the new primal weapon as well), just wondering what I should put on my anima in lieu of having any raid weapon. Since I haven't been back long, my scripture is pretty low atm too, and lore has all been going towards anima so I'm just wearing yafaemi welfare gear. The process to make an anima is annoying enough that I don't want to fuck it up.

I really hate the tomestone system :D

Ideally you go to Ariyala and put what you want/have in there, and then configure your relic to get your accuracy to cap (592). Put the rest into crit and if there are points left over, put then in spell speed.

Hmm, I am poor (2 mil is poor, right?) but I also haven't decided if I'm going to finish Alex Savage or not. I think I'll just go crit/ss (BRD here) and then promptly glamour my anima onto something better anyway

As of right now Anima weapons are not endgame weapons, they're trophy pieces used for glamours. IDK if that will change in 3.5. I don't think anyone knows the next cap but there will be a final Anima questline and if it follows the normal pattern it would go -> 270 -> 290 for the last two phases. Although I have no clue if that is what will actually happen so take it with a grain of salt.

Keep in mind that no matter how high the final ilvl, there will be weapons near the beginning of Stormblood that outclass it - this isn't FFXI where relics were god tier for years at a time.

And yes the tomestone grind is balls. I'm at 20 umbrite and 900 lore with a hard semester of school coming up; I doubt I will be able to do more than trials/expert/60 if that. I'm not even sure why I'm still going at this point lol. Honestly I should hold off; I prefer Gandiva to Autarch and unless the final Anima is better-looking than Gandiva or worth using for a while as an actual weapon, there's no point to this.

    Glamour Fantasy XIV, indeed...

Anima have never really been end game weapons. They're really more feel good weapons aimed at a portion of a playerbase that can't engage in remotely difficult content and still feel good about themselves because of the grind involved.

Mostly true, but I feel like pointing out there are a lot of players who could clear Savage but don't want to for a variety of reasons.

I can't imagine why, maybe it's the endless grind for a weapon that you just have to hope might be better than your end game equivalent.

You can count me among those, it seems like too much trouble to get in/make a static and then watch it fall apart at the first sign of difficulty. I'd have already done them all if I could be assured the other people wouldn't flake out and waste my time. Not only that, but the time you spend actually using the gear you acquire from the raid isn't very long considering how the ilvl gear cycles work. Plus, now you can get the same story experience from normal mode raids. Add it all up and there are very few incentives to raid in this game.

I guess it doesn't really matter what I put on my anima then. If I do choose to raid there's probably a similar or better weapon every step of the way. Oh well. Achievements go~

Good luck finding a static if you're a MNK or a Caster right now.

I assume they're not very desirable? I think it would be pretty hard for a healer too, it seems everyone is playing healer these days as a main or secondary job. I noticed around the time the anima weapon quest first started that a ton of people on my server started playing healer, it was always the first role filled in PF and DF started taking a lot longer. I even see a disproportionate number of PFs lately of healers advertising to stand in for missing static members in raids.

Be good at mnk or caster and have proof to back it up then you should do fine really.

They provides little to no raid utility. DRG has Battle Litany whereas NIN has Goad and Shadewalker/Smokescreen. MNKs only utility is Mantra and healer's don't generally rely on it. Casters also don't provide a whole lot aside from a summoner being able to battle rez someone and black mage applying some mitigation (While BRD has TP/MP song and MCH has the same and a physical reduction on boss.)

Any standard raid composition should have no issue clearing. And having some fights on farm will probably get you into statics faster.

I mnk each week and bring literally nothing to the party other than top or near top if I die. Don't know why people are complaining about it. lrn2punch harder people.

Congrats, everyone else in your party would benefit much more than your avg 100 more dps above the next guy if you were a drg.

It's not about what you can do as monk, it's what your entire group can do when you're not a monk.
