Overall I'm happy with my loot. Oh yeah, the future bro in law also got his sister and I a PS2 with a bunch of games she used to play (scooby doo, Pac man, fuck idk I came into her life too late). Fortunately, I still have all my PS1/2 games that I haven't been able to play or emulate correctly for ages. Time to go on a nostalgia trip woo wooooo.
Hope you have a memory card bud. I too tried to delve into some Ps2 goodness only to be really upset by not having s memory card.
Gave: Nothing
Got: 14 hours of sleep.
Gave: Bunch of souvenirs from Hawaii.
Got: Socks.
Gonna pick myself up a new UPS.
someone should really post the pre-edit of that^
Got a couple more from family gathering..
Red Robin gift card and seasoning blend. Seriously, try that shit on chicken and pork chops. So fucking good.
Won a Boba Fett goblet from our white elephant game. Dropped it in the parking garage when I got home and broke it. T^T
Gave:
Kids -- Star Wars Lego (Episode VI final fight scene, Rey's speeders, and some Star Wars Rebel speeder thing), a BB-8 stuffed pillow, Star Wars blankets. The 4 year old got 4 Dr. Seuss books, the 7 year old got the Roald Dahl collection, Ramona collection, and the Ralph S. Mouse collection, and Where the Sidewalk Ends. The 4 year old also got some Jake and the Neverland Pirates stuff.
The kids also got more Lego and Jake and the Neverland Pirates stuff from grandparents (got the courage up to ask them to coordinate with us on gift-buying, because while I appreciate generosity, the last several years, the stuff they were getting was just stuff that never, ever, got played with. This year every gift got great reactions, and most of them will probably still be seeing use for years down the road).
Wife -- A nasty early 1900s China cabinet that I got for about $20 on Craig's List, then stripped, smoothed, retouched and restained; thing looks gorgeous now (though I haven't been able to find the right kind of handles to replace one that was missing; she hasn't noticed yet), a new keyboard and a KVM switch for her at work, as she's always complaining about having to twist her body to use both machines she needs.
Mother -- framed family picture, a handful of sewing tidbits, and something else I'm forgetting now
Mother's boyfriend -- Lindt sea salt chocolates, and a gift card for the Pike Place Market (I hate giving gift cards, but the dude doesn't want *anything*, but he loves to take my mom shopping there).
Received:
Bread maker, an artisan bread recipe/cookbook, a stone slab for bread making, a pizza paddle (you may see a theme here), a deep frier, a Broncos ski cap, and a mess of candy (because my family hates me losing weight).
My grandmother did this every year, too. I hated it when I was a kid/teenager, found it quaint when I was in my early 20s, started to love it after I got married. She died in July, and I nearly cried when I realized there wasn't going to be an ornament this year.
I was given this to clean up tonight.
