Got: A few gift cards. Mainly, a Best Buy card so I can (did) buy Fallout 4 finally.

Gave: This year is special for me. I've never been well to do or even comfortable. My wife's family has always been so giving and supportive to us. My wife's sister has been a stay at home mom (until a month ago) and our brother in law is a manager at Ford corporate. They let my wife stay with them for two months while she worked in the area while I was still looking for a job to move closer to them. They have always been the type to buy us dinner or provide whatever when we visit. Even with three kids they are always so giving. One thing they have never bought for themselves is a nice tv even though Dan spends most of his time outside of work watching tv and of course that's what their kids do (watch tv). We bought them a 55" 1080p tv and they were very happy. It felt really good to finally give more than receive and to see how happy they are.

Saw my grandnephews on Monday. They're getting so smart! The oldest has entered into this super cautious, reserved phase, so he didn't really engage with me any time I tried to play with him (he was interested in the play tunnel but never worked up the courage to crawl into it), but the youngest (for now) was a blast! We spent all morning wandering around the house turning on lights, pretending to vacuum, and pressing buttons. He had vacuuming down pat: He'd run up to the door, pat it, and say "appens," then point to the light (the string is just out of his reach) and say on or off, usually correctly. then he'd rummage around and hand me a vacuum end, say "Vaccies," grab one for himself, and then we'd walk around making vacuum motions (i totally did noises too). He was pretty quick to crawl into the play tunnel, too, but he never went all the way through. He'd get a few feet in and turn around. I think they'll warm up to it soon enough.

My parents and I then drove up to Duluth through the monster storm that just swamped most of WI/MN. It was pretty bad for a while so our trip took a lot longer than it normally would have... but today they rented an apartment up there, so that's good. Gonna see if I can come up with some kind of furnishing they don't already have extras of.
