    Need a sewing person. Ksan?

    Possible Material:

    Simple type dress: http://img.shein.com/images/sheinsid...4110371706.jpg

How much, possible, etc? I basically have all the questions of someone whose never had a dress commissioned before. Is this a material that can even be converted into a dress? I know next to nothing about the information the page is presenting but I am getting the feeling it's just a cover-type material. Which could still work with another actual-fabric? Hmmm.

Gonna match those shoes I bought. Thanks in advance for any information anyone might have pertaining to having custom items made and fabric information.

It looks like an adhesive overlay. You can ask for a sample and pay the shipping.

After asking a few places/people, I think you're right. I mean, I am pretty sure I could still USE it to make the type of dress I want, but yea, best to know what I'd (or whomever is doing the work) be working with. I asked for a sample, waiting on response. Chinese company, a tad sketch.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

theshun is right. Looking at the description it is going to be sticker backed. You could probably have a black dress made and then cut this to put in various sections on the dress. It probably is going to be stiff though so you'd want to limit it to the top of the dress rather than the bottom skirt.

Site says free samples but I think you pay the shipping cost. I would get it to see how heavy/thick it is.

With that said, who are you getting the dress made from? That looks like something you could use as a first project of do-it-yourself!

I dug around and found a pattern very similar to the dress you want:

    http://www.simplicity.com/misses-dre...z=90&start=208

    Pattern E

According to the size chart on the back you need about:

2 7/8 yards if the fabric is 45" wide or

2 1/8 yards if the fabric is 60" wide

This is for sizes in the 12-16 range which btw is different than clothing sizes.

I am not sure your size in the irl, but if you want to play it safe I'd do 3 yards if 45" or 2 1/2 yards if 60"

Ehhh, I dunno on the do it yourself thing. I mean maybe, but I'd rather just pay someone. So far I asked a friend who does Silliness of Sewing on FB, but mostly I need to wait for the sample to be able to take that to her.

Or you if you're looking for a side project that has monetary value.

haha. Someday if I get a dressform again (Mine is still in CT). Otherwise it wouldn't turn out well since I couldn't fit you.
