Anyone who started with 7 won't like 9, because they were under the impression Final Fantasy was a completely different thing than it actually is, so 9 comes out and is actually like the first 6 Final Fantasy games completely breaking their illusion of what they thought Final Fantasy was and it confuses and angers them so they automatically dislike it (people don't like change and they don't like feeling "lied" to, or betrayed) so 9 was the bastard stepchild of the PS1 era for that reason

9 was of course amazing and extremely under-appreciated because it unfortunately came out at an inopportune time when the wrong kind of fanbase had attached to the series due to the previous 2 games

Yeah, I was too young to really read well when I saw a friend's older brother playing FF1 in their basement. Nonetheless, it and similar games did help me down that path since interactive stories felt way more fun than books themselves. So, while I'm probably older than the average poster here, the assertion that haters started with VII vexes me some. There's not really any sort of Evangelion-esque "too deep for you" that goes on with IX's story. I just found it too whimsical, for lack of a better word at the moment.

Rejecting the point of life entirely if one is doomed to die, Kuja tries to destroy the origin of all life, the crystal. His will to end all life summons Necron, a being who wants to take the world to the Zero World where nothing can exist, to release Kuja and all other beings of the world from the suffering of existence. The word "Necron" means "death", and thus gives the final battle a symbolic meaning. In the end, life triumphs over death when Zidane and his friends prove to Necron they want to live despite the knowledge they will die one day.

Regardless, even if you don't like that bit, it's not enough to make the whole rest of the game bad unless you already didn't like the rest of the game.

God damn the port is so good on iPhone 6. Low loading times, high res models and crisp text, consistent frame rate, day 1 icloud saves, and the UI is fully adapted for touch screens. The negative is that the backgrounds on higher res devices look really blurry and overworld map battle loading times take a bit longer than in dungeons. If they went back and fixed the UI/controls for FFVII on mobile i'd buy it again. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they can get FFX HD running nicely on mobile.

I also like both. Started on 3 (6) back on the SNES, Fuck yeah for having the cartridge way back in the day, emulated 5 and loved it, enjoyed 7 and enjoyed 8 more than i did 7, 9 was decent, loved 10, played the shit out of 11, Absolutely loved 12, and 13 was fucking garbage. Honestly i have played through 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 at least 10 times each If not more.

9 looks/plays great on an iPad pro, so much better than the 7 port. Still can't jump rope though
