James Chen, while being unbearable at time, could do a very effective job of easing in new viewers. He does it quite often as is already.

Yeah that's what I was referencing. Everyone then thought "Oh man G4 airing this, so good!" and now G4's dead.

Obviously e-sports/FGC/EVO won't kill ESPN (as it's doing a fine job cannibalizing itself as it is right now) but if they inserted some of their talent with our natural commentators, I just don't think it'd work well.

I don't disagree, that would likely be pretty awful. But if there's anything that Evo '10 taught, it's that putting people with no passion, or frankly, understanding, for a game in the commentator booth is horrible. And I would think that's a lesson ESPN should be well aware of already. Best case scenario is they take a few existing FGC commentators and bring them up to speed on what they expect as far as professionalism.

Although watching a train wreck of commentary like TGS 14 with an ESPN commentator for extra awkwardness would be pretty amazing.

Also RayRay was the last big name still holding out on shit-talking KBR post-EVO, I wonder if he's finally really the champ now. I think the only big name he hasn't bodied in tournament since EVO is Cloud.
