As a female, it's also kind of disheartening that there are so few (if any at all) female players in the top ranks for any fighting game. At least, I haven't really seen any.

There used to be a decent amount of female players in tekken/sc/doa but those scenes have fallen off a cliff. Kayane and chocoblanka are the only notable female players I can think of in recent years that aren't trans.

My station was relatively close to Slash's, he was doing Melee top 16 while I had Xrd top 16. He had a projector so a giant crowd gathered to watch Melee; there were technical issues that kept the projectors Mando and I were supposed to use from working so the only place to watch Xrd was on a single spare monitor that I split the feed to.

The Melee fans crowded things so tightly that we couldn't actually move the Xrd players in and out, they had to pile into my stream pit with me. The Melee kids kept coming into the area we had taped off as a no-standing zone, bumping Xrd players while they were trying to play, and in between matches they kept trying to steal the two chairs that were very obviously for the players at the stream station to sit at, my gf and I had to flip shit on them multiple times about it.

Some of this was just poor planning on EVO's side, we should have roped off the area surrounding the stream stations in advance, but the Melee fans were still extremely disrespectful about everything.

wow that's good news about espn. i don't follow league or other moba stuff besides seeing the numbers on twitch front page, do they get regular tv exposure too? i don't watch tv at all these days.
