I'd have to imagine it'll be UltraChen, since they're already Capcom's standard go to for Grand Finals and Chen's standard practice of overexplaining basic concepts would work well for a TV audience.
The Grid and Da Beach will be banned at Evo
One of two tracks will happen:
1) We get a combination of Seth Killian, UltraDavid, James Chen, Comobofiend & Skisonic (lol)
If we are lucky we will see Aris too.
2) We get a couple of the above paired with people more professional from outside the community, but completely stupid to the goings on of how fighting games work.
Obligatory:
Never forget!
No Fword and Logan?
I'd love me some FWord and Logan, but I'm willing to bet they will pick up people who know when to turn the hype levels off when nothing crazy is happening on screen. Same with commentators like Zhi as well.
ESPN is big time, they will for sure aim for less color commentary and more play by play and terminology across the board -- at least for the first foray into this. Hopefully FWord and Logan can convince people that they can commentary without being drunk on camera, haha.
Big opportunities for anyone and everyone who even gets 10 mins in at the desk.
FWord isn't going to EVO so the typical UK duo is dead in the water.
SF top 8 has been james and seth the last few years, no? i'm assuming it'll be the same this time around.
odds of skisonic or aris making it on an ESPN feed are ~0%

Who da fuck works Sundays anyway!? That is hangover day.
IMO the best commentators are as follows:
1. Justin Wong - his insight is insane
2. Ryan dude from Florida - I always forget his last name, but you actually learn stuff with him
3. Logan/FWord combo
4. Magus - He gets a bad wrap, but I love his commentary
5. Zhi - Kind of like Justin and Ryan, you can actually learn tech from him while on commentary
6. Seth Killian
7. Aris - He would likely be higher if he commented games I liked.
Everyone else is fucking ass tier and get replaced by music.
Aris is a fantastic commentator for both Tekken and KoF, and Kitana Prime has been really good for MKX recently. Spooky is also an A+ commentator for anime games imo
Ryan you're thinking of is Ryan Hunter, and yeah he's a really good commentator for alot of games.
Aris, yes, I actually like him so I'll edit it. Also, I added Seth Killian.
I absolutely can not stand Magus at all. Dude is annoying as all fuck when he rambles on about what a player should've done/meant to do vs what he actually did. Like he's smart and shit, but looord.
The worst are Ski and James Chen. Neither are good enough in the games they commentate to take seriously. They both get frames, setup info, etc wrong all the time too. They also can't dress for shit.
The WOAT is Keits. May he never return. I'll never forget that year at EVO where he went off on Ski and he didn't think the mic was live.
I think Keits is bearable in small doses while Ski isn't even bearable after one word.
I think James Chen needs to just do color and not analyze, but sadly he's there to analyze when he's paired with Seth, to an extent.
I think F Word and Logan are the best combo going right now for pure hype + knowledge. I think Zhi and Mike Ross are a solid combo in all honesty. Sajam and Tasty Steve work well off of each other, but aside from Steve saying random shit (and being downright offensive like Zhi sometimes) and Sajam being a transition god when it comes to sponsors, we won't see too much of them either
Either way it doesn't matter. James and Seth will be the pair we see I am sure when it comes to being on ESPN2. I wonder if they're gonna just do the presentation as normal or if they'll wanna add anything to the production.
The Jamaican guy from ny who does NLBC is slept on. He's actually funny and serious at the same time. The one thing I hate is fake/forced Hype and he is someone who understands the balance.
