At this point, the Smash community kindly needs to go fuck themselves.
Smash 4 players complained about their finals being on Saturday, but conveniently ignore the fact that they got a metric fuckton of stream time on Friday/Saturday. Melee ignores the fact that they share a venue with 7-8 other games and consistently demand 3/5 and other perks that go against open bracket structure. Both games are a royal pain in the ass to structure on a stream where the ad obligation is potentially way too much (especially if Melee is 3/5). If their matches are not a blowout, they take a long time to run. Almost as bad as KOF13.
That's just from a stream/tournament perspective. Not even going to bother talking about how much of a bunch of fucks the fanbase at large is, because it is common knowledge at this point (outside of some, although Toph and Scar caught some daggers from me during end of Xrd). I don't have as much beef with 4 as I do with Melee, but I'm willing to flip both communities the bird at this rate.
Man I never even thought about the ad part. When a single match can take 20+ minutes that's a big problem.

Hm, I thought Hungrybox's celebration was a very heartfelt joyous one. He was crying (obviously tears of joy) and I've seen lots of players of anything react like that. I have seen a lot of sports players drop to their knees after a win/loss too. I found his unbridled joy vs Armada's stark unhappiness/introspection on the same stage to be a really interesting scene. I guess it's all in how you're determined to portray someone to make you feel good, though.
Actually, I was happy that HBox won. Especially considering how many people hate Jigglypuff.

Nothing was as emotional as galileo beating dogura in blazblue 2014. That shit made me legit tear up cuz the guy deserved it. And the after pictures of dogura's girl in tears and dogura calming her was just as heartbreaking. Or nothing like justin tripping on himself in umvc3, or fchamp winning umvc3 also. I dono, i really have a bias against melee players. From first hand experience in my local scene, they're complete scum.
I agree with TBR honestly, I'm glad Hbox won. Jigglypuff is my homie for most iterations of Smash. Shit, even Welt was excited seeing Jigglypuff take Evo.
And Hbox actually seems relatively level headed compared to most of the other big names in Smash, not being a flat out prick like Mango or Leffen, Armada demanding his own personal practice station setup next to the main stage, or whatever the fuck is wrong with M2K this week.
In other news, our Evo Street Fighter champion has his priorities in order: https://twitter.com/INFILTRATION85/s...67504003723264
Somehow not surprising.

There's a cabinet at a local comic/game store and it's fun to poke in and see just how long I can stretch out a few bucks.

Hold your own goddamn tournaments, then.
You cry to get into EVO, and then you cry when you don't get your way within EVO, and then you don't support the mainstays of EVO? The pillars of EVO?
Get.
The.
Fuck.
Out.
Of.
EVO.
If.
You.
Dont.
Support.
EVO.
Being a vampric leech onto EVO's FGC credibility teat while contributing nothing but headaches about scheduling and persecution complexes isn't a great way to stay a part of EVO. Why the fuck would you ask for the respect that comes from being a part of the original fucking fighting game tournament, then coming in and disrespecting the hell out of everyone that was there before you? That's childish.
You can stay for awhile and clap and cheer while people are announced in other games. Its called goddamn respect. You don't go to a conference and immediately roll out when your speaking role is over, or your company's 30-minute bloc of time is complete. You stay and listen like professionals. Like adults.
I don't mind if they leave en masse after their game is over. Just means I'm able to get better seats. It's when they start cheering over other games to their detriment and other shit is when it crosses the line.
Even though Melee people cleared out afterwards, they either trickled back in during SFV or were going for piss breaks because the arena started getting packed again. Think they also learned their lesson from CEO on not being a bunch of fucking twats to another game. Fucking up at EVO would probably kill their entire game.
Why are you constantly using "You" as if I'm a Melee fan or part of the issue?
I get your point though in regards to staying to support the FGC regardless if your game is over or not, but like.. not every Melee fan is a fucking tool. Yes, a lot are childish, but I know a couple Melee fans who weren't at EVO, but still watched and supported EVO/had ESPN2 on just to support the tourney the best way they could.
But ya, sure, clump everyone of em together. That helps things! That's as if you'd take the Aris situation at Cross Assault, or Noel beating women, or whatever and using that to lump all of the FGC together with all that thuggery.
Anyway, sorry I said something positive about the Smash community in general. Gotta be careful of that considering how much people hate those dudes. Fuck smash, etcetc.
Aris is one person. Noel is one person. The throngs of boos from the melee crowd that ring out whenever something that isn't melee shows up onscreen, that's not one person. That's impossible to be one person.
And if we're talking about one person, then how about this Hyuga idiot. An eye for an eye... for an eye.
