Yeah if being able to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep till 6-7 am is a problem that's one I'd love to have lol. Should be easily solved by going to bed earlier.

I just have a hard time staying asleep for more than 1-3 hours (plus I automatically start waking up 1-2 hours before I need/want to) so it's all about the nap life for me.

This always wakes me up. Every. Single. Time. Doesn't stop me, just I always see this recommended and it's not surefire. Ripping one out is a surefire way to wake me up and make me realize not only do I not want to sleep, I really want food.

They tried Lunesta for me during my carpal tunnel pain filled nights but I may as well have drank coffee so you may have to experiment with options.
Benadryl works but I hadn't heard about what TPG said about dementia. I've lived off that shit for a long time, may be careful going forward. I also use ambien. Benadryl is 100% the same ingredients as any sleep aid you can buy in the aisle as well so don't bother with anything that says PM or whatever, it's just going to have a dose of benadryl in it. Same with nyquil. When I take too much benadryl for too many days in a row it starts to make my legs feel weird, like mild RLS symptoms. It's annoying. It helps me sleep for a few days and then peaks and starts to impede my sleep due to legs going nuts. May be something to beware of.

Oh yeah I'd have that shit happen when I started trying to take Benadryl/sleep aids. Not from taking it over time (I think) just when I take decently more than the recommended dose since I can't even tell I've taken anything at those doses. I ended up giving it up since it was too hard trying to balance enough to actually maybe help a little but not so much that my legs go crazy. Though occasionally I'll do the Nyquil + vodka and it helps some.

You should try taking too much Benadryl at once. Like 500 mg. I hear it's a real trip.

I'm really amused at the number of people saying "go to bed earlier". Please. Continue.

Seriously did you even read HIS post?

No issue falling asleep, no issue staying asleep.

He just stays up too fucking late.

    Go to bed earlier.

    Done.

Except no. I go to bed upwards of 1-2AM and sleep anywhere from 6-9 hours.

So no, his issue isn't staying up too late. Thanks for playing.

    We aren't talking about you.

His body wakes him up at 6-7am.

If he wants to sleep more, he should go to bed earlier.

fun fact, you can get high off Loperamide, my anti-diarrheal opiate. In order to do so, people take something like ~120mg at a time. It comes in 2mg pills, and if you get it OTC the largest bottles you can get are 72 pills. They're like 20 dollars a bottle. These people down pretty much an entire bottle (of a drug designed to shut down your intestinal muscles, mind you) in one go, and do this multiple times a day.

I am told the withdrawal symptoms from that level of intake are among the worst in existence (from someone who apparently has a great deal of experience in that sort of thing). I believe it; I'm on a low long-term dose (well within clinical guidelines) and I get some extremely disruptive symptoms if I miss a day.

I am so glad that I have never had withdrawal symptoms from not taking loperamide. I never knew it was an opiate or how it worked but it does wonders. I rely on it so much specially when traveling.

Also I am not seeing what the problem in the OP is. If you are not getting enough sleep then you would be tired the next day if you wake up feeling not tired then it seems like your body is getting enough sleep. If the timing of it is what bugs you then you can go to bed earlier and wake up earlier or go to bed later and wake up later.

My issue with this thread is that he is able to sleep 8 hours a night consistently, has no trouble falling asleep, and remains attuned to a night sleep cycle.

Then there are those of us who have real problems.

That is what the first world problems thread is for. Or Poopdeck depending on the situation.
