The boyfriend seemed shady as fuck and the brother was a huge attention whore.
The first few episodes that featured him I was willing to give the brother the benefit of the doubt. The parents obviously didn't want to speak to the media so it all fell on him. But he kept being super weird. And he and the ex-boyfriend seemed really chummy. Whatever they did to her voicemail and phone records is shady as fuck.
But I still think the other Dassey kid and stepdad did it. They had as much means and opportunity as anyone, a pretty good motive to frame Steven as well as the stepdad having a violent history with women, they knew she'd be there since it was his car she was photographing, and they were each other's alibi (a hunting trip, so they'd be armed regardless.)
I think where the brother came into play was the police and sheriffs coming to him and saying, "We know who did it, but we need a spare key to the car, and we need your search party to find it on Avery's lot." The cops took care of the rest.
Wife and I just finished the episode after sentencing. Absolutely sickening. I gotta run some errands so I can't type all of my thoughts but one thing that stood out is back then it was super easy to get a key made so literally anyone could do it, especially in a small town. At the dealership I worked at in the early 00's they didn't start asking for proof of ownership for the longest time.
I'm hypothesizing based on what I read as I watched the episodes. It's true it was on a blue nylon strap with that thing on the end. But it was still the valet key which would be weird if she used that all the time, and it was the only key on the key ring.
Also I don't trust the brother and ex-boyfriend at all, as I said before I think they probably thought they were helping Manitowoc sheriffs catch Teresa's killer but they did too much weird shit (logging on to her phone records, finding the car, etc)
My wife and I too thought the brother and ex acted too weird as well. Oh, and the lady that found the suv. Just something about her that really sent off a negative vibe. The biggest thing to me was, how did SA receive NOT GUILTY of mutilating a corpse but BD did?!?! There are just so many things revolving around the entire ordeal that either do not make sense or really make Manitowoc look super bad. I'm not saying this to get off topic, but this is an incredible example of the law forcing their will and doing whatever necessary to protect their own (in any capacity) just like many of the police shootings or other incidents we've seen and read about.
Our compassion especially goes out to BD and his mother as it's clear he was a victim in this entire situation. I too think that possibly the brother and stepdad had something to do with this.
Yup. She got the map of the property and the camera from the brother. Then, on a lot with hundreds of cars, she finds Teresa's car in 15 minutes.
This goes back to the sheriff calling the office to run Teresa's car's tag number before the car was found. The theory is the sheriffs found the car but didn't have a warrant to search that area of the property, so they tipped the brother to send his volunteer search party there, hence why that lady was the one with a camera and found it so quickly.
Yeah, I see what you're saying. Didn't know if you had info about her main set of keys being found because as far as I knew that was the only recovered key to her vehicle and the brother/boyfriend said that was the key she used
But the brother/boyfriend, brendan's stepdad/brother, and police (the two guys) have too much circumstantial stuff floating around them for me to feel comfortable with them not being investigated. But this is like the only case I've ever followed so idk how common it is for things to look off about people. Maybe most murder cases, if played on netflix, would have us thinking everyone's involved somehow. Like the valet key, maybe the girl lost her main key and wanted to save a couple bucks on a new one

fuck ya!!!
Good for him. Get out, and move to someplace far away from his hometown. That kid got screwed over so hard by those detectives and his own damn lawyers. Let him watch his wrestling in peace.
Shitty thing is how normal of a life can you really have after all of that? Nevermind his time in prison likely changing him, there's plenty of RL trolls that'd be sure to bring up what happened just to try and get a ruse out of his mother and him no matter where they go. Here's hoping for the best though.
Curiositys sake, since the ruling was overturned, is he going to be able to counter sue or is this more just a higher judge found him innocent based on the evidence?
Going to be wild when he ends up with a lawyer that has him confess to the murder all over again
Some degree of reparation likely isn't out of the realm of possibility. Whether it'd be enough to live on for the rest of his life is another matter. Either way, you don't really accidentally lock someone up that long and just let 'em go with an, "Oopsie!"
