When I can go out and purchase a 100 round drum magazine for a "civilian" weapon, there is a MAJOR problem here.
lol David Hogg got Alex Jones' youtube channel frozen (I don't know exactly what that means) and Jones is begging him on twitter it rules

fucking with uncle alex man, you crossing a line little dude
I mean, it really doesn't matter - rifles with pistol grip+removable magazine = banned - are there rifles without pistol grip that even accept attachments like those? It's overkill sure but also pretty damn meaningless.
It's really just reducing the "honk off" factor I described before.
Agreed. However I also feel weapons such as the AR-15 and variants serve zero civilian purpose. If you want to own it because it looks cool and is fun to shoot, just own it and move on. The people making the argument that it's a deterrent for government malfeasance are a bunch of fucking retards.
ok fine i googled
they wouldn't even have to be THAT boring - you could still slap a grenade launcher on one of those babies and be ok lol (good luck getting ordinance but that's another issue altogether) - since it needs more than 1 feature it still works!
Never seen that rotary magazine before, weird.
You've pretty much nailed what the legal-to-purchase school shooter weapons of choice would be though, the M1a and mini-14 carbine - stuff like that. Removable 10-round mags, .223, with rifle stock/grips (what is the name for the "hunting rifle" grip anyway?).
If you're going for the high score under this new system, would it be better to size up your ammo to 30.06 or one of the winchester magnums, or would the kick involved make it more difficult do you think?
That is the original intent of the 2nd amendment. The people making the argument that it's a deterrent for government malfeasance are a bunch of fucking retards.
Considering that every attempt at genocide has started with disarming the population I would say that is a valid concern.
You're also referring to a time when the Continental population was roughly 2 million people and they were squaring off against 12 million angry British all because of some shitty tea. And let's be honest, the 2nd Amendment was written during a time when an armed civilian militia COULD make a difference. That is not the case now. And hasn't been for some time.
Be less valid if authoritarians were not voted into office.
However even with that if the most ideal President in history woke up one day and decided to get a piece of that whole absolute power corrupting business, a shitty AR-15 isn't going to keep the military from bombing your house from 500 miles away.
I guess small arms fire made no difference in Afghanistan. Just rolled right over the opposition. That is why we currently occupy it and have eliminated all "threats"? Oh wait...

I want you to feel bad about that argument but I can't articulate how bad.
