I've ran across people who think the 2nd amendment doesn't go far enough and we should actually have access to weapons and ammunition to take out tanks and planes when the government rises up against us.

Technically speaking don't we already have access to a lot of stuff? With enough money, passing extensive background checks and approval from the ATF you can own all kinds of things.

If they want to open those things up to private ownership I hope they're all ready for Jeff Bezos to stop fucking around when he tells you to sign up for Prime.

Do they know how much a tank costs? On average a single one is $8.5M. That's not counting money for shells and ammunition, not to mention fuel. Anti-aircraft missiles are hundreds of thousands up to several million each, and fighter planes cost $100M+ apiece.

My friends in the Navy have shit on that floating nightmare to no end. Such a colossal waste of money. They could have blown all that development money on a railgun instead and likely made some half decent headway.

The railguns are awesome too because there is no way the ammunition could ever cost that much. It's just a chunk of metal. Although knowing how it works they would still somehow develop $800k per round railgun bullets.

Even at the worst possible estimate of 75k per shot for a railgun, it's 10% of the cost. Admittedly the research isn't cheap.
