I fail to see who the boogiemen (or bougiemen) are here. Who is going to bother doing this. It is SO EASY to get guns in the US. If we actually had half-decent gun laws and mental health checks, maybe I'd be remotely concerned. The fact that I can still walk into a sporting good store and buy a fucking rifle without any real questions is much much much much much much more concerning.
Is some sizable population going to all of a sudden start murdering people because they can print a gun?
It still has metal components holding it together. Not sure if plastic ones will hold. At the point that polymer screws can sustain it, then there would have to be forced clear bag policies at major venues.
The article that I read earlier today quotes colleges that often have 3D printing labs as a source of concern for blocking the blueprints. It's kinda silly because it would take quite a few hours to print, let alone clean and assemble the thing.
Bullets are still made with metal casings and are detectable. Also, who the fuck is assassinating people? Ceramic guns already exist and homemade guns, including plastic guns, already exist.
I can only agree with whoever said that the gun lobby is just afraid that the means of production will be seized as a "threat".
The people who would need/use a "clean" weapon already have ready and easy access to such things at a low cost.
Oh I'm with ya.
The custom nerf gun community scares me enough that an adaptation up from those or down from 3d printed guns could still yield some deadly weapons that don't need explosively propelled projectiles. :/
Some of the handheld crossbows I've seen are fucking deadly as shit. Don't even need a license for em! They will punch through a person, no problem. Silent too.
I was under the impression that crossbows were illegal for that reason?

Since when are crossbows illegal? They are banned from certain hunting areas but are otherwise completely legal.
Until bullets are made of plastic, 3-D printed guns aren't a concern in the US. Maybe in other parts of the world, but in the US im more concerned about real guns than plastic ones lol.

That's my reference. There are many restrictions on crossbow hunting but VERY few on possession.
